Reviews of Patchouly Rosso

Pure camphor, a take no prisoners "cantankerous" piece of bitter/moldy patch straight from the city of Florence. I profumi di Firenze Patchouly Rosso starts since the first blast realistically earthy, humid and somewhat straightforward in its typically rooty-"lofty" woody/earthy "pungency". Rosso (read) here means basically peppery/rooty and bitter-woody. The juice is temperamental and really "concentrated" (such like an extrait) and somewhat bitter/harsh in its supreme woodiness (it seems to catch a vegetal mélange of roots, bitter woods, grass, wet earth, pepper, forests musks and a secret spark of olibanum). The Etro's super classy exotic Patchouly jumps among many on mind but Patchouly Rosso seems smelling sort of less civilized and aristocratic than the previous (despite surely classy and elegant as well), finally warmer, darker, mossier and more bitter/camphoraceous. I finally pick up a touch of kind of ostensibly chocolatey/resinous sense of smoothness, something anyway hardly soothing the main raw-spicy aroma's temperament. Cedarwood, oakmoss and fir resins "afford" a quite woodsy, moody and vegetal final wake. In particular resins seem to encompass the initially harsh sense of angular woodiness, well rounding the structure by a dark/musky embrace. A classic fragrance, lofty and funereal, a well blended patchouli dominant accord, super formal, boise and naturally smelling.

Another of the lighter, simpler Patchouli's around. This one starts out with mainly cedar before it retreats to an earthy, yet light Patchouli skin-scent.

Straightforward Woody Patchouli

Patchouly Rosso begins with a heavy dose of cedar, which competes unfavorably with the main patchouli accord. Soon, though, the scent settles down, with patchouli taking center stage, the cedar retreating, and slight myrrh and spice accords developing in the background. Frag never becomes overly sweet. As much as one can call any patchouli fragrance delicate, that is what this is. Unforced and entrancing. Scent eventually becomes imperceptible on the skin but I could smell it wafting back to me throughout the day. Very pleasant.

Like many of the I Profumi scents I have experienced, this isn’t stunningly original, but its simplicity is laudable.
