Oud et Rose fragrance notes

Reviews of Oud et Rose

If you like Montale's DNA you will like this one as well because it has almost the same DNA as many Montale fragrances!

The opening of this fragrance is a bitter and burned woody (smoky) type of oud mixed with lots of spices and easy to detect floral notes specially rose plus some sweetness.
The smell is very familiar and reminds me of "Montale Royal Aoud" that I had it around a year back but after a few wearing just sold it to someone.
The oud note here smells very synthetic (also all Montales!)
Don't expect a quality oud from this fragrance! just a smoky woody type of scent that may remind you of the smell of oud.
Spices are quite strong and it doesn't smell like a particular spice that I could mention. it's like mixture of many different spices in a very strong and bold way.
Some sweetness and some floral notes just make this smoky and spicy scent smoother and easier to like.

In the mid that smoky oud note settles down a little bit and scent gets sweeter. the interesting thing about the sweetness (only in the mid) is that it does smell very sugary and yummy and kind of like the smell and taste of cotton candy!

In the base all notes settle down and you will get a well known oud, rose, spice, patchouli and some sweetness till the end.
Projection is strong and longevity is 8-10 hours easily.
It's much cheaper from Montale fragrances (it's around $50 for 100ml bottle in my country) so if you like these type of scents this is a cheaper replacement!

A complex symphony of oud and flowers

Top Notes: Lemongrass essence, Lime essence, Incense essence, Rose Petals accord

Middle Notes: Saffron, Rose Absolute, Geranium essence, Cistus essence

Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli essence, Gurjum Balsam essence, Musk, Vanilla, Oud wood

Initial spray: Starts very strong. I'ts actually one of the strongest openings i have yet to encounter in a scent and it lasts for a good 30 minutes ! I get a lot of lemongrass and lime with mellow dry incense (not sweet) sitting in middle . The oud joins in late in the opening then quickly settles in as the backbone of the scent. The oud here is dry (as opposed to sweetened) and it's high quality .

Heart: After a good 30 minutes, the heart of this scent starts to emerge and it's actually my favorite part: A beautiful bouquet of majestic roses, saffron and Geranium. You will smell all of them and the blend is masterfully done. I must say this is one of the best blends i have smelled based on the rose note . Beautiful and intoxicating.

Drydown: After a good 4 hours of flowers heaven, the patchouli and musk kick in and complete the cycle of this very "complex" scent. I don't smell vanilla at all. The drydown is very woody . Nothing sweet here. Even the musk and patchouli are both dry and balanced.

Projection : Moderate and never in your face. If you're looking for a Montale type of projection , don't expect it here.

Longevity : Will easily stay until the next day on your skin if you don't shower. Very long lasting .

Like i said, this is a very complex scent that has so many notes and i'm still discovering more in it in every wearing. Hope this review helps shed some light on this hidden gem.
