A*Men Pure Malt: Liqueur de Parfum fragrance notes

Reviews of A*Men Pure Malt: Liqueur de Parfum

Pure Malt Creation 2013 is one of the few fragrances that smell equally awesome on skin and clothes. It's bears more of a resemblance to the original when sprayed on clothes but wearing it on the skin brings out a spicy-ness that smells incredible. Almost like two great fragrances in one. I've only got a re-released bottle of pure malt (7 digit batch code) to compare it to, but Creation is way better than that one! Performance is also much better. I can get 5/6 hrs on skin and double that on clothes. Get it if you have the opportunity.

Although I do agree that this version is just a tad bit more refined, I also must stress out that this is basically the same fragrance, discontinued for a reason. Ok, that was a little harsh and maybe cynical, but bear with me. Straight in the opening there is a slight, noticeable difference that quickly dissipates to pretty much same old Pure Malt. That's not over, though. Alcohol note is slightly toned down in this flanker, giving the fruits, spices and wood a bit more freedom of expression, sort to speak. Still it can't be denied that the difference is too subtle, albeit apparent, to be recognised when smelled up close and none when smelled from afar.

If you're a collector or simply love Pure Malt in general, then you won't be sorry for having this one. From the point of view of the first, you have them all in the collection, from the point of view of the second, you basically have a reserve bottle.

Scent 10/10 (it's still Pure Malt basically, so it's perfect)
Originality 5/10 (had it not been discontinued it'd be 0/10)
Longevity 8/10
Projection 7/10

If you are a fan of Pure Malt then this is the one to get. I feel this is how all the flankers should smell: more refined, less alcohol. That said, regular Pure Malt is so good it is hard to bash it, making this launch questionable. I think TM must have forgotten the formula to the original version or something so this needed a different name.

Good luck finding it though...

So I bought this thinking it cant be identical to the original. And you know what it isnt. Its not identical but it might as well be. The difference is there but its so slight you may miss it if not paying attention. And 99.9% of all people who will smell it will think your simply wearing pure malt and thats only if they know fragrances. I would not even go as far as to say that its different than pure malt but rather it smells the same yet develops differently. The berry note last longer and is a little more pronounced. Once your in the dry down you may be hard pressed to tell a difference. Overall I still give it high marks because I love the original and this is nearly identical. But I find myself viewing this as a backup bottle of pure malt rather than its own fragrance seeing how similar it is.

All my research shows that the only difference between pure malt and pure malt 2013 is the actual casks they use to age it. The original was supposedly put into solid oak whisky casks and the newer version was put in Toasted or "roasted" oak casks. This minor difference may be why there is only a minor difference in smell. One neat feature of this bottle is that even though the star is reflective if you view it in non direct light you can in fact see where the level is at with the juice. If you get a tester you will also note that they are actually using the older pure malt tester rubber sleeves and that the notes and writing are identical on both further hinting that they in fact are the same fragrance. If I had to say anything else about it it would be that to look at it as a batch variation rather than a new scent. If you are on the fence between this or the original just let price dictate it. I managed to get this actually cheaper than the original so I wasnt disappointed. If you were unlucky enough to get taken on ebay for $110- 150 then I could see the possible disappointment. The only other reason to buy is if you are dead set on having an example of every TM fragrance.

Yes, Pure malt Crreation 2013 is pretty much the same juice as its predecessor. But not quite the same. It is smotthier and somehow lighter than the orignal PM. At the same time it it sweeter with mora caramel, vanilla+amber=tonka and creamy milk. The Malt is less alchoolic, if that makes any sense. No tar note. And what really makes me love even morre Creation is the fact that lavander and mint seemed to be stronger which add a touch of almost a babershop scent effect, I mean it has a more traditional feeling to it that is not very likely to b found in a TM fragrance. I am very happy to own them both. the box is very luxurious and weel done with bass releif and the mirror in the centre, it makes me think of an album cover from the 70's. High quality material in every respect.

I'm a hugh fan of '09 Pure Malt; therefore this flanker is a easy thumbs up. What Pure Malt Liqueur de Parfum is
,is virtually the same dna as the first flanker. The first hour you get a big burst of caramel, the first hour to 90 minutes the Carmel phases away. The whiskey scent kicks in
mix with the pleasant fruity scent with a small tab of toasted oats. This new flanker is much lighter than the original formula,so if you thought that the first one was too harsh try this one its lighter than '09 creation; but if you are looking for something totally different don't waste your time or money its damn near the same juice!
