Reviews of Foin Fraîchement Coupé (new)

It opens with a blast of a very unpleasant aldehydic scent which is unfortunately reminiscent of Off! bug spray. Oriza scents can have a very awkward period right after application, but this one never loses that unpleasant undertone. At best it adds a metallic touch around the 1/2 hour mark and that is where it stays.

I waited for mint, floral, and hay notes. They never came. What did finally materialize was baby powder layered on top of musk. It settles out as Imperial Leather soap with a dose of insecticide.

This is not one of their hits.

This opens with a clean blast of cologne brightness and quickly warms into a warm woody lavender softness. Its nice but to me skews masculine, After 15 mins or so it settles to a powdery talc-y softness. Great on a gentleman - it smells gorgeous but not for me. It seems like the latter few releases from OLL are not really a patch on the earlier releases. They are ok but not different enough. I adore Relique, Reve and Chypre Mousse tho the latter skews masculine for me too. But Relique is something else....stunning!

When I was a teenager in the not-quite-distant-enough 1980s, souvenir shops in England sold cakes of soap with an image of a floral bouquet sprayed on. These were cheap gifts that a foreign visitor battered by a punishing exchange rate might consider as an acceptable slab of Englishness to take home to expectant relatives. Except the soap was stony and took forever to lather, and smelled generically sweet and powdery, quite unlike any particular flower.
This is where FFC pitches up although it promises freshly mown hay. This abstract aldehydic powder blast is loaded up with clean musk and veers after a short interval of a soapy lemon verbena to the aforementioned tablets of stone. Something pleasant for a hot day, hardly memorable as a perfume.
The first dud in Oriza’s otherwise sparkling line-up.

Fresh, lively, spring-y green/soapy floral scent, with a slight metallic/aldehydes feel and an overall "plasticity" but pleasant and refined enough to be the perfect gift for Mom's day. The flower notes are nice and a bit "restrained", the anise note and the humid-earthy hay note are nice as well and well detectable, on a cozy amber-white musks base, with a subtle camphor-talcum aftertaste. After a while it gets even softer and cozier while a breezy geranium note emerges - geranium isn't there, but flowers and mint deliver pretty much a similar note, half floral/half mentholated. The drydown is a soft, tonka-vanilla floral accord still with a graceful and clean earthy feel. A cute, nostalgic, elegant, clean scent with some interesting but a bit un-developed earthy facets which would have added a more distinctive and interesting touch. Persistence is a bit short. A decent feminine "crowdpleaser".
