Reviews of Spanish Cedar

Excellent smoky woody fragrance with some spice that does not smell like the inside of a sauna. Very well done. Strong and linear so you only need a little.
If you are having difficulty getting hold of Creed Spice and Wood which is superb and has that apple accent which makes it more interesting than this but also more expensive then this is a great option.

Fragrance: 7.75/10
Projection: 8/10
Longevity: 7.5/10

Anyone have a 10ml or so aliquot they wish to trade?

Expecting to like this for a number of reasons, I've had to contrive circumstances to do so. On its first trial, it seemed rather too birch tar-laden. So much so, that there seemed little to do with cedar about it. Could you call it Spanish Birch? Perhaps, if you wanted it to sound like a form of medieval corporal punishment.

Being careful on second application to reduce the number of sprays, this worked much better. Rather than the austerity of the birch and somewhat exaggerated fruitiness of the plum, it settled down much more quickly to a nicely smoky, woody, and ever so slightly spicy scent. Perhaps this is the secret, as it's the only variable that was changed between the two tests. Certainly among the best of the dry woods that I've tried recently, but not yet a contender for my money until further testing shows it to be more consistent.

Revised review, based on a sample and at-home observation.
Plummy and immediately smokey. The birch tar makes its presence known. At first the scent is rich and a bit heavy. The spices are evident but the clove is not overdone. Everything jostles around in a somewhat boisterous way -- this is a "noisy" scent at first. There is a musky-dusky note from the galbanum. The scent settles into a smokey, creamy and dry sandalwood which is pretty good. Interesting that the sandalwood is more evident than the cedar, given the name of the scent.
If you like dry sandalwood and don't mind birch tar, give it a try.

Spanish Ceder is the first men's EdP strength fragrance from Czech & Speake. The fragrance opens with a delicious, although fleeting, fruity blast of bergamot, blackberry, with a hint of cloves. The opening is almost juicy, like a candied orange or tangerine and I just couldn't help sniffing my wrist upon first spraying it. After five minutes or so, the fruit starts to dissipate, and Spanish Cedar beings to settle into its resinous, warm and creamy heart of Galbanum, Cedarwood and Sandalwood - and there it remains... for hours and hours. It has superb longevity, and a pleasant, reasonable silage that makes Spanish Cedar an excellent choice for the office or business meetings; although, now that I am wearing it I am imagining myself in a log cabin by a lake somewhere in the mountains of New Hampshire or Vermont.

It was a hot day today, and this fragrance wore very well, but I expect that Spanish Cedar will really shine come wintertime, which is when I am most likely to wear it. This fragrance will appeal to fans of the combination of Cedar and Sandalwood. It is woody, resinous, very masculine, mature, and brings to mind the aroma of a exceptionally well-crafted cigar humidor.

Definitely sample this one if you get the chance.
