A meeting with Kimberly Sayer

A meeting with Kimberly Sayer

"I've got to do something about the way I look. I mean a girl just can't go to Sing Sing with a green face." Many will recall the antics of the recalcitrant Holly Golightly in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. Holly, like many women and now even men, aspires for a perfect complexion. In a time where new products with new promises emerge everyday it becomes a task to discern which products are the best for our skin. Few of us have the knowledge to decipher the ingredients in the products and understand what they are or what they will do to our skin.

Kimberly Sayer, a beautician from London, offers a revolutionary skincare line. The products in Sayer's line are not only made from 100% organic materials but are also grown in organic soils. No other company can currently claim such a feat. Organic ingredients are readily absorbed by the skin and act to "feed" it with nutrients. Chemical solutions on the other hand can mistreat or damage the skin.

The lack of organic skin care products is what inspired Sayer to launch her company. After completing a degree in Beauty Therapy at The Neals Yard Beauty Therapy College, Sayer went on to work at various spas giving facials and listening to customers needs. Sayer would use her own products on customers and tweak them in regards to the feedback she received.

According to Sayer, both women and men make grave errors in treating their skin. Women don't clean properly which leads to clogged pores and breakouts. They also use harsh chemical make-up removers which can clog pores and damage the skin. Sayer offers a gentle cleansing lotion as well as a light cleanser with lemon oil that cleanse the skin without irritating it.

Men on the other hand don't moisturize either because it isn't a typical practice for men or because they figure that it will add to their acne. The failure to moisturize disrupts the body's homeostasis and results in an overproduction of oil which can lead to more acne. Sayer offers a light moisturizer which is instantly absorbed, feeding the skin vital nutrients while not clogging pores or leaving a greasy layer.

Through her personal interactions with the clients who came into the spas she worked, Sayer's products grew in popularity with the power of "word of mouth." She soon found herself boasting an impressive list of celebrity clientele such as Whitney Houston and Diane Venora. Sayer's products permeated further breaking into the hearts of modeling agencies. Some of the worlds top modeling agencies including I.M.G., Ford, Wilhelmina, and Z Agency recommend her products to their models.

The success that Sayer has encountered should come as no surprise. She has lived in a world of natural therapy starting from her childhood days living among lush gardens. Sayer recalls her mother making "homemade solutions" using the plants on their land to cure any ailments her family had. She spent a lifetime using and learning how to use various botanicals. Although she has the education and knowledge to create products on theory she chooses to test them on herself. It is rare to find skincare products that are tested on humans rather than animals. Sayer takes one extra step by testing them on herself. She undergoes a fasting ritual so as to clear her skin of toxins in an effort to get an "honest" reaction from her products. Kimberly Sayer lives by the creed "strive for excellence not perfection." She kept testing and trying the products until she believed they reached a level of excellence. Her products don't make the impossible promise of giving one a perfect complexion but they will give anyone fortunate enough to stumble across them an excellent complexion.

Sayer's commitment and dedication to her work explains her success. She simply loves what she does. Every Thursday she can be found on the floor of Henri Bendel's New York giving free facials. With an impressive and ever growing client base, she no longer NEEDS to do this but simply LOVES doing it.
