About this year's sponsor: Beauty Cafe

The Beauty Cafe is a beauty boutique specializing in finding unique product lines and was founded in July 1997 by Lisa Slavik.

After several years of actively participating in alt.fashion, Lisa identified a common theme running throughout numerous discussions [a.k.a. "threads" in newsgroup-speak], many of the recommended products were extremely difficult to find, particularly for customers not located in major metropolitan areas. Whereas all of the alt.fashion subscribers had computer access, not all had access to retail stores nor eclectic product lines. A secondary theme also emerged from the newsgroup, poor customer service often resulted in consumers going elsewhere to make their purchases.

As a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, as well as a graphic artist, this realization sparked Lisa's idea to establish a "cyber-store" dedicated to offering hard-to-find fragrances, skin care, and bath and body products to customers plus to provide superior customer service via the internet.

Through the years, Beauty Cafe has been featured in various beauty and fashion magazines from WWD, W, Jane, InStyle, Allure, Mademoiselle, and Redbook. Beauty Cafe specialize in locating the products that you read about in the magazines, bringing them home to you.
