    One thing about the vBulletin software that we run the site on is that it doesn't allow members to change their usernames. It also doesn't allow moderators to change other members usernames either. This means that if anyone wants to change their username they need to contact the site and ask me to do it.

    Lately, I'm getting several requests a day, and i estimate it's taking me about an hour a week to change usernames. ...

    If you aren't able to listen, the show is available in the UK on the BBC's iPlayer service. If you are outside the UK, then I'm not sure if it will be available.

  3. Celebrity Fragrances on their way out

    Here's an excerpt from Fashion Industry mag, WWD:

    Because of some recent performances, celebrity fragrances are starting to get a bad name.

    Although new entries are still being introduced, department stores have begun approaching celebrity fragrances with caution. They cite among the shortcomings of the category a lack of solid positioning and suggest that some companies have banked almost exclusively on the famous name while neglecting to establish a concept.

  4. Is it possible to run a website via an iPhone.

    On Saturday, my iMac broke down. The hard drive is dead. Luckily I have a backup, so ten years worth of work and research isn't lost.

    Although I was one week out of warranty, apple very kindly allowed me to purchase an AppleCare extention which meant they would cover me.

    Now until the box comes through the post, there is little I can do to get the thing fixed.

    In the meantime, I've a website to run -- including articles to post, emails to respond to, ...

  5. Basenotes iPhone App, well kinda...

    For those of you with iPhones or Android phones you may be interested in an application called Tapatalk. Tapatalk takes forums, like Basenotes, and makes them phone friendlier.
