Back in 2005, we had an idea to do a version of Basenotes for makeup. Due to very young children and one of us having to go to a real job, we didn't have time to do it then and it got left by the wayside. Some people enjoyed the model we used to promote it though!

We are getting ourselves terribly excited at Notes HQ as today is the soft launch of our online magazine Facenotes.net.
TOP BLOGS: According to a new report from research firm Konector on the top-50 beauty blogs, Temptalia, NaturallyCurly.com and Basenotes are the top three beauty blogs garnering more than 500,000 viewers a month. Kingsley Maunder, a director at Konector, explained the leading blogs typically focus on a “very particular topic or target market” to generate a “large, regular following that spend a significant amount of time on the site.”

Many of you will be pleased to know that I've nearly solved all the review issues. You'll hopefully soon be able to edit them, have accurate review counts and see reviews that have somehow got lost.
In doing this, I've rewritten the whole review system in php and am using a mysql database which I should have done ten years ago.
The last step is transferring all 40,000+ old reviews into the new system, which will either be really easy, or really hard.

Sometimes it seems all I do is write lists. Then rewrite them. Then write them somewhere else. In my filofax. In a pad. On my Mac.
Then there are lists that aren't lists really. Like all the starred emails in gmail. Like the folders (both real and computer-based) that are full of stuff to add to the directory.
I can't seem to get organized. I've tried various apps to help (see Things, Remember the Milk, Omnifocus, Toodledo, the much-missed I Want Sandy - and so many

Having fixed my last problem, it appears that the solution to that is turning some apostrophes in reviews to a question mark.
Ok, lets try and fix this then.....
Looks like its a problem from when people paste from word, which gives a different apostrophe which has an encoding different to what a website expects.
Can't see an immediate fix yet. sorry
