Cologne Chronicles

Simple simplicity. Just reviewing easy to find and easily accessible colognes that won't break the bank. Also chronicling scented adventures at the point of view from a normal dude in his mid 20's.

  1. Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3: The Rating System

Right now on my own Excel sheet, because I'm a nerd, I have every scent I've tried on my own skin listed and rated. So I can keep tabs of what I really like and revisit them later. I even kept tabs of colognes I want to give a second chance to. Anyway, last night, I was thinking, "So, what really makes a scent a 5, a 4, or even a 3?" "Okay, how does this scale work with longevity?" With scents, if it's a 4 or higher, I'll definitely buy a bottle. A 3.5, I'll buy a mini of it ...

  2. Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3: 03/13/08

Even if no one really reads this, at least this'll be for my own amusement instead of posting it in my LiveJournal where no one would know what the hell I'm talking about (or rather, just keeping it to myself cuz I'm ashamed to post it for other friends to see :P). Anyhooooo, this is my post on my initial impressions of some scents I've tried in the past couple weeks. Thank you Sephora and Scented Monkey! I'm actually having more fun gathering my plethora of random samples. I'm a very indecisive ...

  3. Less Is More?

It's been a few days since I decided to post my first entry on this blog. It's a great way for me to randomly soapbox and nerd out on scents as I please. Since this is the only place where I can publicly express my fascination with colognes. It's very odd how I can be obsessed with random things. I think my friends are slowly starting to learn I do get a little carried away with this stuff. None of them are really into this stuff and own 3 bottles at most, with the exception of one who also registered ...

  4. The One That Started It All

Well, in my 3 or so months of semi-blind buys, blind buys, and random sampling when I learned my lesson about how to shop for new bottles. It mostly started with semi-blind buys. I would either sniff a magazine insert or a strip of paper. This is entirely different than spraying these scents on your skin, not only that, but wearing it multiple times. First of all, the whole thing started when I decided I wanted to get a cologne. So I went searching around the internet for information. Websites ...

  5. First post!

Here's how I organize my fragrances. What I use and store in my dresser drawer. What's in my emergency duffle bag (it's a bag of extra clothes in the trunk of my car that I keep for whatever reason like staying overnight at someone's house, change of clothes after playing basketball, drink/food spilling on me, etc). What's on the "trading block" (or for sale). Pending samples to test. I'll even include what I used to have. The stuff I wear is usually scents that fit my personality. I'm ...
