Scent of the Day

This blog depicts my interpretation of a chosen scent. I write a description and then list the notes and illustrate with a painting or photograph.

  1. SOTD- Bond no.9- Chinatown, Sunday, July 13, 2014

    Bond no.9- Chinatown
    Proud, perfect plum blossom perky and prim,
    glows with oriental spices;
    cardomom anchors the sultry cloud
    as it hovers in the trees.

    Red; the color of happiness,
    luck and all good life forces,
    rushes forth as it fills my heart.
    The rich scent is redolent;
    representative of an ancient civilization

  2. SOTD, MDCI- Cuir Garamante, June 22, 2014

    'Lady Godiva' by John Collier, 1897
    Parfums MDCI-
    Cuir Garamante

    Riding in protest yet provocative; assertive,
    ever the female in control.
    A woman takes the reigns donning
    the smoothest, richest leather.

    Daunting; the dark forest awaits.
    Sultry sandalwood, labdanum, nutmeg
    and saffron envelope the velvet robes in
    gentle wafting

    DelRae- Début, EDP
    Darkest green surviving coolest, crispy nights
    sparkling white angel's caps
    float like so much dainty tulle.

    If there were fairies, surely it would be here.
    The snap of bergamot and linden blossom,
    gay as a warbler's song, carry the happy notes
    through the delicate breeze.

    Gather as many as you can.

    Profumum- Ambra Aurea

    See how it taunts; just beyond reach,
    a precious substance hoarded by rulers
    that could warm to the human touch.

    Glowing with the light of day,
    smelling of warm wood and sap,
    the bees are fooled, trapped forever
    by their thirst and love for something sweet.

    The pulse of the forest;
    trees flow with

    Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's".
    Chanel- 31 Rue Cambon
    A raucous party of bergamot and patchouli,
    whirling giddy with too much champagne.
    Business is pleasure but when did pleasure
    become business?

    Pass the canapés and hold in your stomach.
    Even if your feet hurt and that bit of wit fell flat,
    there is a soft,
