  1. Finally Happy

During the post holiday shopping clearances, I decided to grab a few wonderful things that I had seen and smelled. The last being Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia. This was my first blind buy and though I didn't have buyers remorse, it did help to teach me what scents I do and do not care for. When it comes to florals I like them buttery and warm. It also taught me that like a rose, a gardenia can be handled many ways.

I ended up returning it to purchase Innocent Illusion which I find ...

  2. Floral assault

My love of fragrance has gotten so open that my friends at work are gifting me with their over abundance of treasures. I adored the Volupsa Sake Lemon Flower candle that I was given last year and smile whenever I smell it wafting unlit in the sad disarray of my home.

However, when my twenty-something friend gave me her mom's gifts of strongly scented drugstore finds, I was excited, but a little afraid. I had heard wonderful things about Sand & Sable and had wanted a chance to ...

  3. Headrush

Wow. I think my chemistry might have changed slightly in the last few weeks. The only things I can handle now are my classics. I saw Arpege in the store the other day for a good price, but passed it by as I had just finished clothing shopping with the teen. I recently bought M and Hilary Duff, yeah, keep laughing, but for a ...

  4. Chypres and Marshmallows

Over the last year or so, I have researched scents on Basenotes and other blogs. Though I want to try try them all, I tend to get overwhelmed in discount stores with tons of bottles. I tend to be wearing fragrance and the odd Bath and Bodyworks sanitizer/lotion as I work in an animal shelter. Being inundated with effluvia just sealed my love of soaps and perfume.

I ended up trying Organza, Jean Paul Gaultier and First Premier Bouquet. I had purchased First the week before for a Holiday ...

  5. A love hate relationship

I love having this forum. I love being able to look up a particular scent and get opinions and details, to be drawn towards something I would have never known about.

I find i am most drawn towards the fragrances that I recoil from almost immediately. The same nuances that blow my mind are the ones that make me wait for the drydown to see how these fragrances meld with my chemistry.

I tried Cabochard and Carolina Herrera today. I went into the store to buy Cabochard ...
