Crouching Tiger Hidden Flacon

Various musings about various things, mainly fragrance.

  1. The Journey So Far vol. 8

I posted last part of this series over six years ago. Then I was at a stage I couldnít afford to buy any new perfumes, so I made a virtue of necessity and concentrated on what I already got. This lasted for a couple of years and was very good for me (and for my collection): I found many old loves again and appreciated my collection in a new way.

But of course when I got employed again, the first thing I did to celebrate was buying new perfume.

I must admit itís thrilling ...
  2. Annick Goutal Eau de Charlotte

by , 27th February 2010 at 10:07 AM (Crouching Tiger Hidden Flacon)
Eau de Charlotte came into my life seven years ago. It didn't sound like my kind of scent at all: I'm not into Florals and mimosa and lily of the valley aren't among my favourite notes. But something about the composition (cocoa, perhaps?) intrigued me enough to give it a try.

To my great surprise I liked it a lot. It smelled like Spring (those scary-sounding mimosas and lilies of the valley) and had an irresistible mischievous quality. The cocoa note is dark and "roasted", ...
  3. The Journey So Far vol.7

Though my journey will undoubtedly continue (does it ever really end?), this blog post will be the final part of these small series, at least for the time being.

Things went finally so bad that I was forced to reconsider my life choices, and though leaving a safe, steady, governmental job wasn't an easy choice, I ended up resigning. No salary can ever be big enough ...
  4. Most worn so far... aka The Big Picture

by , 23rd April 2009 at 03:54 PM (Crouching Tiger Hidden Flacon)
I started to collect scents in 2002 and to keep stats of what I wore in 2004. The following is a list of the scents I have worn at least twenty times since then.

Because my stats are simple Word documents, I have to go through all of them and do the counting, so it will take some time before this list is complete, but it already gives a picture of which scents have been most "busy".

I will update this at the end of this year and then again at the end of the ...

  5. The Journey So Far vol.6

by , 11th August 2008 at 11:24 AM (Crouching Tiger Hidden Flacon)
The next turning point in my hobby/passion/addiction came in 2005, which I later named The Year of Vetiver and Roses.

The name might sound poetic, but the times were anything but. Suffice to say that I was deeply unhappy due to various things (most of them connected to the place where I worked then) and consequently started to use scents in a different way than I had before.

Whereas fragrances had been something I wore for my own pleasure, at this point I started to ...
