Various musings about various things, mainly fragrance.
If I had a signature, or a Holy Grail for that matter, it would be Yohji, Yohji Yamamoto's first scent, now sadly discontinued.
It seemed like destiny right from the start. It was late summer 1998, I was searching for info about perfume on the internet and ended up on Sephora's site. At that point the French site included much more info than the English/American one.
I had admired Yohji Yamamoto's clothes for ages, so was thrilled to learn that he had launched a scent.
'You know they say it's quality not quantity that matters, but when trying to answer the difficult question "Which houses are your favourite?" it's easier to pick them by the number of scents one loves coming from that particular house. The higher the number, the higher the percentage of great scents from that house, the better.
Currently my TOP 9 houses and their numbers look like this:
Comme des Garçons - 27
Serge Lutens - 21

I don't remember how and when exactly I got introduced to Les Parfums de Rosine, but I do remember where I got my first samples from: Aus Liebe zum Duft. Since I wasn't a huge fan of rose scents then (have changed my mind since), I guess I got my samples accidentally, possibly with my Voleur de Roses order.
Never one to sneer at free samples, I tried them on and to my great surprise fell head over heels for Poussière de Rose, an elegant teaming of dusty roses, smoky tea and mellow
I only list the scents I wore at least ten times during a year:
11 Douce Amère, Mitsouko, Yohji
10 Dinner by Bobo, Muscs Koublaï Khan, CdG Peppermint, Y
14 Comme des Garçons EdP
13 Annick Goutal Vétiver, Dinner by Bobo
12 Angel, Carven Vétiver
10 Eau de Charlotte
22 Heure Exquise
15 Bois Farine
