• Ropion creates Frederic Malle's Joyeux Noel candle

Available now is Frederic Malle's Joyeux Noel candle, which Malle developed with perfumer Dominique Ropion. The candle contains notes of cinnamon, pine, amber and cotton candy.

    Malle says:

A few years ago, Dominique Ropion had made a sketch of this unique December scent. We decided to polish it, and make it even more comfortable, diffusive, and to make it perform in a scented candle.

The candle is available for a limited time at Editions de Parfums stockists (Les Senteurs, Barneys etc) and costs GBP£60 / US$95.

Sort of on the subject (but not really):
Carlos Benaim, who is responsible for several of the candles in line (Cafe Society, Rubrum Lily etc), is the nose behind the next Malle perfume to be released in early 2014.
      Or so I was told...

Wow, I have to say I never expected a cotton candy note from Malle/Ropion.

Dries van Noten has a huge one. But it isn't a Ropion, true.

This candle is very nice, but I don't think it's quite worth the hefty price tag. The cotton candy note is quite nice and adds a touch of sweetness.

Funny thing about chemistry, while I do hear people talking about the sweet notes in Dries van Noten, they are very understated on me - I mainly smell spices and woods. DvN is definitely a woody oriental on me and not the gourmand it seems to be to some.

Loving perfume on the Internet since 2000
