Hi Sharlenec -- I'm glad my recommendations seemed helpful. It is nice of you to plan that present. I thought of what you might be able to find easily. Here's two more:
Tuscan Soul by Salvatore Ferragamo. A fairly new scent, very pleasant in the same style as Dimensione Uomo but even better. It comes with a variety of products like shower gel and moisturing lotion.
Eau D'Orange Verte by Hermes. This is an absolute classic -- citrus-green and very attractive.
Cheers, best to you. ody
gosh my reply to you has posted 3 times, sorry, not sure what happened :-/
Hi Ody, thanks so very much for taking the time to reply to me. I know Michael used to wear it back in the '80's and 90's and since then hasn't really bothered with another fragrance but I must admit I love a man to wear some. So thought as his Birthday is coming up on April 20th, I may be able to buy something really nice (price isn't an issue - he's worth it ;-) so am grateful for your up dated recommendations. I will go into the City next week to a quality store and look at the two you have mentioned. If you feel there's anything else I should look at, let me know. And again I just really appreciate you taking the time. I don't know a lot about men's fragrances as I only buy for myself usually. Kindest Regards, Sharlene
Hi again, I'm wearing DU. It is a fresh style of scent, with some citrus in the opening and some woods and light musk in the dry-down. This is a very basic sort of scent, probably there are many in this style. It isn't heavy or sweet. If you can't get DU, I'd suggest Aqua di Gio by Armani -- that is somewhat similar and basically available everywhere. And it is an even better scent in terms of quality. DU is a drugstore type of scent, nothing wrong with that. Even better than AG is one of my favorites, Essenza di Zegna by Ermengildo Zegna. That is really a super version of AG, just excellent. Cheers, ody.
Hi Sharlenec -- thanks for your note asking about Dimensione Uno. I just got mine at a little Italian deli which also sells soaps and Pino Silvestre products. It is a kind of obscure item in North America, but probably widely available in Italy. I'll give it a try soon and let you know if there may be something similar and easier to get. Cheers, ody
I know it is an old post of yours from back in 2007 where you translated a review of Dimensione Uomo a men's fragrance released back in the 70's. I am actually trying to track down a bottle of this for my boyfriend who used to wear it years ago and always loved it but am not finding it anywhere. Do you know if it is still made and is so, anywhere at all I may be able to purchase it? I was not with him back when he used to wear it, so don't know what it smell's like, so am at loss to chose something else that may be similar?? Any help at all would be so gratefully appreciated. Kind Regards, Sharlene
