Ages ago you asked me about Iso E Super. It's classified as a woody amber aroma-chemical, but is much softer than the others of the same category (cetalox, ambroxan, karanal etc.) It seems to blend well with any other material, and in itself has a smooth woody, incensey smell. Escentric Molecule's Molecule One consists of 100% Iso E Super mixed with alcohol and costs a fortune. I buy my Iso-E from perfumersapprentice.com for just a few bucks. Sometimes I just blend it with a bit of musk and Atlas cedar or Australian sandalwood and get something that smells like a proper perfume. It adds volume to these blends too, making them easier to smell from a distant.
Hope this helps a bit.
