Hullo Thar ...

To whom it may concern:
This is me ...
I have tried posting my reviews on Basenotes only to have them disappear into the 'system' too many times so I've decided to change my tac and post blogs instead.
I was lurking for about a year before joining last February and only joined because I had a question to ask but I still haven't asked it - and it still hasn't been answered for all my 'research'.
I am a busy Mama and don't get a lot of time to indulge this hobby. If I did I think we'd have a second mortgage on the house by now.
I generally dont like forums and online communities because of my own bias about how people are on the internet and also through a sense of obligation - why join if you're not going to say anything?
Being an older female has been two points well against me in other forums I frequent and I never join up to say anything for I know I would become Flame Queen of Forumdom within minutes. I'd be trying to kick teenage arse every chance I got! OK maybe I wouldn't but I think you get the point. This is the first forum/site/online community where my age actually counts FOR me *gasp*! I'm pretty happy about that. I'm not sure my gender means anything here at all but that's a good thing too, right?
I have thought of signing up to another online perfume community because they allow any and all to review instantly yet there are pro's and con's on both sides. The downside of having that free reign on the other site is that so many idiots post and each fragrance has very little depth of comment or discussion. While being able to post instantly would be fun, it would also be easy to get lost in a sea of mediocrity. Basenotes' Pay-To-Play upside is people think more about what they have to say and so we get relatively balanced reviews even though all reviews can only be subjective. Idiot reviewers on BN are few and far between - IMO. *cough*
The reason why ...
Anyway, what I've been thinking is, since I currently can't post reviews here without paying, I can use the blog feature as a kind of log of all the scents I try and perhaps entertain people at the same time. I can even post accompanying pictures! Wee! Since deciding to do this I've rewritten a whole bunch of reviews/commentaries because in a blog I'm not limited to 'playing nice' as I feel I am in an official review. I might even have the guts to say what I really think ... O_O
For some reason I've yet to do it even though I made this decision about a month ago ...
I've been a tad nervous about blogging here to be honest. Not because I felt I didnt have anything to say but because most of the bloggers seemed to be so professional about it, offerring facts and figures and names and dates, rather than raw thoughts and feelings and giggles and frivolity. I thought perhaps my blogs might be an annoying 'intrusion' BUT since then I have discovered that there are many who blog here this way so I'm gonna do it too! YAY ME! Besides, I've been writing these things all along anyway so I may as well - before the kids or the cat somehow accidently delete my Perfume_Notes.rtf
The blogs that are to come have been written bit by bit over a period of about six months and some are still WAY too long. I have an old-lady-smell blog that's at least two blog sizes so I might post it somewhere else and add a link .. lol I can get rather long-winded. xD
I tend to write in this file (Perfume_Notes.rtf) when I have tried a new scent and/or when I have time - which is not that often since I only test a few new scents a month and have four year old twin boys who only have one day a week of Play School at the moment. Stay at home Mum - yes. Driven insane? Definitely. Time-deprived? *sigh*
So ... feel my Rwar and get ready to cringe or smile when you see another blog from me!
By the way, I don't have any friends ... can I have some? Where can I buy them?
and here's a thought ... Secret de Parfum? WTH?
