Fragrance for first dates (22 y.o.)

Rate this Entry
Hi Basenoters! I am 22 years old, living in a tropical country, and I recently got hooked on fragrances. Now, I'm trying to cover each occasion with at least one fragrance.

So far, I think I have everything covered, say, PR's One Million for a night out with friends, etc. Now, I'm trying to look for a fragrance that's suitable for first dates, hehe

I was thinking of fragrances somewhere along the line of Polo Double Black (unsure about its longevity), Armani Attitude Extreme (unsure if its age appropriate), etc.

Just to get an idea of my preference, here are some frags that I have and like:
- London Special Ed.
- One Million
- Boss Bottled Night
- Lacoste Style in Play
- Ck Euphoria Men

Can anyone help me, please?!

I've never been a fan of limiting yourself to "age appropriate" fragrances, as that's determined by marketing rather than any qualities of the fragrance itself. The 7 fragrances you listed have a balance of overlapping and unique styles, but there's several genres that are overlooked. One of my favorite fragrances for social events is Viktor & Rolf Antidote, it's powerful and pleasing and has a wonderful amber drydown for later in the evening. A close cousin is Creed Original Santal. I don't see any vetiver-dominant fragrances, personally I prefer Thierry Mugler Cologne to the ubiquitous (on here, anyway) Guerlain Vetiver. If you're looking for something more upscale or professional, I'd recommend Chanel Platinum Égoiste, which is also my go-to for job interviews. You also have sweeter, more comforting scents like Baldessarini Ambre (dirt cheap and terribly overlooked by most) and Dior Homme.

That's just a small slice, in general I would apply lightly, go with what you're feeling, and don't expect too much help from fragrance.

Thanks, for your response bluesoul! I recently went on a testing spree and I coincidentally got to try Guerlain Vertiver. I must say, it doesn't really suit my taste (at least not with the top notes) but the Original Santal, Baldessarini Ambre, and Cologne seems intriguing! Thanks, again!

I just checked out your location, Phillipines!

Well because you're in a tropical location have you looked at or considered any of the Tommy Bahama scents?

All of TB's scents are for warm weather conditions and most seem to get really good reviews here on Bnotes.

They also seem to be for a large age range, 20's-and up.

    Hey, Odius!

Yeah, I'm from a country that only has 2 seasons: hot and hotter. hahaha. I think I can pull off wearing some of the fragrances that I use though. I just have to be careful not to expose myself to excessive heat (it's possible believe it or not, we just have to make sure all places we're going to has strong airconditioning)!

I've heard of that brand. It's not available here.
Thanks, anyway! I really appreciate it!

I think I found a match to what I'm looking for. CH 212MEN ICE, the 2010 edition. It's not on the directory of BN yet. I'll just be retesting it soon.

Get Guerlain Homme - it's amazing. Smells rough yet smooth, strong but subtle, very very cool but not overly modern.

Oh and I smelt the 212 - it smells like sex. Get that if you want a ten hit wonder effect.

Are we talking about the same bottle? the Black one released in 2010? I really like this one! Or at least I remember that I did during a testing spree. I'm just waiting for the prices to go down...
