From the box in my wardrobe...

Another wardrobe selection...and my favorite candied floral bomb. Fracas. For those of you unfamiliar with it: The notes are bergamot, mandarin, hyacinth, tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, lily of the valley, jonquil, violet, neroli, rose, orange blossom, iris, musk, vetiver, cedar and sandalwood.

I originally purchased this out of curiosity (both this and Boudoir) because a bizarre mentor of mine said they were her favorites. The first sniff is odd, like a cough syrup weird smell. Some people truly detest Fracas. And I can see that. Truth be told, I had to force myself to wear it for a few months (who knows why, but I perservered). But now, I am completely entranced by the stuff, especially the dry down. Fracas defines tuberose for me, and try though I might, I don't get the same warm fuzzy from Carnal Flower as I do from this one. To me Fracas is the original niche classic. [/]

    "a bizarre mentor"?

I too have tried Boudoir. Twice. I might have tried it more, but I ended up accidentally spilling my sample in the kitchen (not in the boudoir).

I too have also forced myself to wear something. Now *that* is a bizarre trait of perseverance which I have only seen in people who are really into perfume. Why do we do it? I can only guess that *I* did it because I wanted to understand why I didn't like something. I don't have masochistic traits, that's for sure.

I have yet to try Fracas. I read that Isabella Blow really liked it as well. From descriptions of its scent, it would seem to suit her persona.

Oh no...spilling Boudoir is memorable. I have spilled 2 full bottles in my life time, a bottle of Issey Miyake, not to terrible, and a bottle of In Love Again (sniff, sniff). The fragrance is ever after stuck in your nose after that.
