Rose Hates Me! It Hates Me....

Rate this Entry
Finally, I've got the conclusion... Yes, rose hates me. Damask rose, Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose, Tea rose... they all turn on my skin!

Ouch!!!

Several monthes ago, while shopping with a friend, we found a small shop was selling Lacome's Mille et Une Roses. My friend gave it a try, and it turned out to be gorgeous on her: smooth, tender, classy yet modern, graceful but no dull feeling at all, a cheerful scent. She bought it right away, and sent me a decant later.
Well, the same scent on my skin isn't pleasant, it smells more greasy, and what worse is, the scent turned sour! After trying it several times, I gave up. It doesn't suit me, that'all, I comfort myself.

The terrible smell didn't stop me from trying another rose scent. Last month, I got a bottle of Rosarium (Shiseido).

Shiseido's Rosarium is a little candy fruity rose scent with somewhat causal feelings. it's much more light weighted, a bit loli-ish just like those jap young girls. This's what I felt when my collage sprayed it on her wrist and in the air. The next day, I decided to wear this scent to work. I regreted right after 10mins! The lovely rose scent smells disgustingly on me once again. There's no rose flower, only GASOLINE! ouh... What a desperate smell! and I have to wear it for the whole day!

It reminds me White Musk Blush from Body Shop, a lightly spiced rose. It's my first rose scent, but I seldom wear it. Why? The spicy notes (Cinnamon + Apple) smell like rotten fruit on me...

Ferre's is too fruity. It smells like sugar syrup.

Stella "performs" a little bit better than above scents, still with a sourness but it's bearable anyway.

Give me a rose scent, save me from all these horrible nightmare!

Oh, I feel so sorry for you! Rose is not my favorite floral, but at least it doesn't hate me back.

I can only recommend one thing for rose scents - forget skin! Yes, I advise complete surrender. Clothing, hair - anything but skin. I use the trick for scents that my skin eats up, or when I want extra longevity. I know it sounds weird, but it's better than giving up rose scents.

Really really thanks for your advice! I didn't think of clothing or hair things, got to have try next time!

What a shame - I love Rose Scents

I echo Redneck Perfumistos suggestion as it might be the oils in your skin causing the scent to turn, spritzing into your hair might give a more 'true' scent - plus it's great for allowing the perfume to waft around you Good luck!

I perceive rose notes as sour or bitter most of the time.
I like them okay, but they're never sweet to me.
Perhaps this is caused by our perceptions as well as our chemistry?

    Anyway, good luck!

hi, thank all your guys and your suggestions!!!
I post my recently experiences: I find Roger&Gallet‘s rose water smells nice on me. It's a really faint rose, staying power all most none unless you apply a lot, but it doesn't turn
I think about Redneck Perfumisto and TheLipPrint's advises and guess that maybe it's related to the amount of perfume I applied.
When I first tried Mille et Une Roses, it was in the most hottest summer days, and as I know the scent staying power is not good enough, I applied at least 5 sprays. So it may be too much. Last week, i tried it again. The weather then was quiet cool, and I just applied 2sprays. It didn't turn that sour like it did before, a little candylike syntic feeling. Though not sweet either, at least it was not bad. I'm acturally very happy with this result. It did courage me
