This Too Shall Pass

So I'm reading a thread tonight which reminds me of something that I have a mini of and I've never quite "bonded" with. I decide that after my shower I will give it one more chance and than I realize what I'm doing...trying to see if the cloying opening notes will pass into a beautiful drydown that I was too impatient for previously. The results are inconsequential to the point that I'm getting to, as is the fragrance. I am wondering if people have fragrances that they dislike greatly during the opening notes, but tolerate them repeatedly because the basenote payoff is so good. I think I am getting to a point where I could do this...scares me a little too. But sometimes we endure something very unpleasant to achieve something wonderful.

Mm. . . Yes, Tabu comes to mind. Initially, tar smell. But as I didn't have a way to wash it off, I was forced to wait. And the drydown was actually pretty nice.

I understand what you mean completely! Chanel Allure is very much like the for me, the opening while lovely gives me an awful headache but after about 1/2 hour it disappears and I really love the scent.
