Earlier this summer, we at Basenotes Towers were thrilled to receive an invitation from Essence PR to attend the launch of the new Ferrari Leather Essence at Silverstone. Marco Jasonni of Ferrari Marketing took charge of a group of perfumistas, as we spent a fascinating day behind the scenes with Scuderia Ferrari during preparations for the British Grand Prix.
The day took in a tour of the paddock, the pits and the garages (where the cars were open and being worked on); also the brand new trackside laboratory and the Ferrari motor home - where we treated to champagne and a meal in the V.I.P. suite. The day was so enjoyable that we almost forgot that we were there for a fragrance launch.
Ferrari Leather Essence, the latest addition to the Ferrari Essence Collection for men, is described as ‘an aromatic and oriental scent evoking the spirit of the Ferrari Gran Turismo leather interiors’. It contains top notes of lavender, clove bud and violet leaves, with heart notes of cinnamon, patchouli and raw leather, on a base of tonka beans, black steel accord and oud wood.
Wrapped in brown leather and strongly influenced by the aesthetic lines of a Ferrari - in fact, Marco took one look at it and immediately recognised the shape of a Ferrari wing - the hefty bottle also features the signature Ferrari bright silver prancing horse.
Ferrari Leather Essence will be available exclusively at Harrods and www.harrods.com from September 2013, at £79 for 100ml.
