Gaultier² by Jean Paul Gaultier

First impression: Confusion. What am I smelling here?

Second impression: This is very sexy. Smells like I just did something naughty and got away with it.

Third impression: Incredibly long lasting. Sprayed it in the afternoon, still smelled in in the evening and even after a long bath, it's still there.

Final impression: I am in love.

Aromatics Elixir by Clinique

It's an intense scent, hard to control and master but once you've tamed it, it's incredibly gorgeous. Such a winner when compared to the rest of Clinique's 'easier-to-digest' recent perfumes.

I have only compliments for this one.

Ange ou Démon by Givenchy

Ange ou Démon for me is a little bit too soft, almost weak at certain points on my skin. But it's definitely a great feminine scent, generic enough to be well-liked by women of all ages but still has that classy feel that one loves to own.

I interpret it as a Angel who aspires to be a Demon. An evening wear, to my nose at least.

Lovely Prism by Givenchy

Interestingly enough, no matter how many times I've tried this perfume, I'll forget how it smells the very next morning. Was it sweet enough? Complicated enough? I still can't remember. Unlike Chanel No. 5 or Estee's Youth Dew, this one doesn't hit the right chord.

A Limited Edition? I find that quite pleasurable to know. Not something I would be proud about. Harsh but true.

Bobbi by Bobbi Brown

I'm a little confused with this one. It started bright and perky with its citrus notes, then became quite edgy and made me questioned whether I should like it or not, before finally resting to a gorgeous scent that is powdery, incredibly long lasting and well, pleasant.

Sheer Veil by Vera Wang

Too simple and light. I need complexity in a perfume and this one just does not deliver.

Tocade by Rochas

Tocade has always and will remain in my top ten fave perfume list. Its strong, powerful lasting, gorgeously warm and it doubles as a lingerie for your skin too.

If you haven't tried it, it's high time to do so.

Tendre Poison by Christian Dior

Developed by Edouard Flechier, Tendre Poison has the notes including galbanum, mandarin, vanilla and sandalwood, and was supposed to attract the younger group of Dior's customers.

For me, it has nothing to do with youth. Instead Tendre is tenderly mature and feminine in its touch. But of course, I could be bias because my mother used to wear it when I was younger and it smelled divine on her :)

Fresh, light and with a hint of oriental depth, Tendre smells great enough to put a smile on your face.

L'Eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake

I don't usually go for fresh green-floral fragrances until I met L'Eau D'Issey many years ago. Now, it still managed to surprise me with its ability to attract a bevy of admirers, which one of them is me!

A gorgeous scent. Makes you wanna get out from your cave-like room and do something, pronto.

Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden

If you love clean, crisp green fragrances, this is the one for you. I wouldn't even think twice before recommending a cup of it for those nice summer days, and where I come from, it's summer every day so this perfume suits perfectly.
22 November 2007

Mediterranean by Elizabeth Arden

I do agree with *Kewart's interpretation of Mediterranean as light and watery. Although the name reminds you of salty sands and heavily fragrant air, the fragrance is actually the opposite of it. Despite the gorgeous notes such as Sicilian Mandarin, Damask Plum,Sandalwood, Musk etc., Mediterranean lingers for awhile before blending to an unrecognizable scent.

Impressive? It's definitely not my cup of Mediterranean tea.

Angel by Thierry Mugler

It's incredibly strong and has the ability to either attract or scare people away. Isn't this a good enough of a reason to get one now? :)

Champs-Elysées by Guerlain

I know one friend of mine who is head over heels in love with this perfume and she is complicated yet bubbly, friendly and enthusiastic about everything. I have to say, this perfume suits her perfectly.

Covet Sarah Jessica Parker by Sarah Jessica Parker

I quite liked Covet's Paris-inspired ad and looked forward to giving it a whiff especially when Lovely was such a big pleasant surprise. But Covet just managed to get a brief approval from me. I admit I did like the initial scent especially with the strong presence of geranium leaves, and the later half of amber and the lingering air of lavender.

But of course, the compliments end here and I was left a little bit disappointed but you never know, fresh and mainstream perfumes like this one never fails to get its young fans!

Shalimar by Guerlain

Incredibly sensual and I'm still surprised with its effects on both sexes. They love it, no matter what.
19 November 2007

Youth Dew by Estée Lauder

I don't know why people often equate Youth Dew to old church ladies because I am 25 and practically in love with it.

Its complicated and sexy with its bergamot, cinnamon, rose, amber, and vanilla notes. Spicy but warm almost with an erotic hint. Its no wonder perfume addicts are crazy about this after having tried it, I am beginning to know why.

Ps: Its incredibly long lasting, and priced just right for me wanting to get one by the end of this week!

Samsara by Guerlain

I tried this at a local departmental store and was figuratively blown away, so to speak. Its very rich and sensual, and had my lady friend looking at me differently. She had only one thing to say, "It's so sexy, you're looking attractive to me," :)

I think what made me smell this perfume twice and more on my wrist was its woody notes that are of course one of my best preferences in a fragrance. What made my friend very interested in the perfume was its androgynous quality, its almost like a perspiring man wearing Samsara.

Interested, I am for sure. This is a perfume that needs a real woman to wear it and make it whole. I love it.

19 November 2007

Mitsouko by Guerlain

Mysterious, it definitely is and I love how it makes a very loud, and long lasting, voice to the current perfume trend.

This is a time where popular perfumes are usually by popular actors and artists and the smell are usually soft and very mainstream friendly. By the end of it all, people tend to smell the same!

That is why when I put this on and see the surprised look on my friends face, I knew this is one perfume to keep. Rich, often misunderstood and instinctively earthy, I'd wear this sparingly during the evening and anytime when I want to make a statement.

No. 5 by Chanel

Honestly, No.5 is robust, complicated, strong, classic and almost too mature for anyone under the age of 25. Its opening notes have the potential to drive people away, its middle notes could disguise as a freshly showered smell of soap, while its basenotes linger seductively for those close enough to detect it.

But for me, the beauty of this perfume lies exactly in this Jekyll and Hyde persona. The woman who chose to wear this and wears it well, knows how to have her cake and eat it too, sans guilt.

Coco by Chanel

I'm easily intrigued with 'challenging' perfumes like "Mitsouko", "Youth Dew" and "Angel" so when they say that Coco Chanel is for those as unique as the scent itself, I just had to try it.

After asking the girl to spritz on my right wrist (in moderation, of course), I knew that I could have a a worthy love-hate relationship with it. Coco is heavily floral-oriental, full bodied, potentially pungent, and classy. Wearing it could either invite a compliment or a wrinkled up nose. Either way, it makes a statement.

I don't know why but wearing this makes me want to wear a deep burgundy-coloured lipstick, a fitting black suit and drink something strong and smooth like a Manhattan or a crisp Saketini.

Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel

I was with my friend when I encouraged her to branch out from her normal selection of perfumes. She wondered what to try and I looked around, saw the Chanel counter and Coco Mademoiselle sparkled in my eyes. There was something very feminine and classic in its bottle, and I didn't think twice but asked the lady to spritz on a strip asap.

That was it, I was seduced. But of course, I could be a little bit biased because I've always been an avid fan of the bergamot+rose+musk+vanilla+amber notes combo.

My friend on the other hand was head over heels in love. She bought the 100 ml bottle in 10 minutes and every time she wears it, she exudes an endearing romantic and feminine aura that's too hard to resist :) And I'm a woman.

Marc Jacobs Essence by Marc Jacobs

I have always preferred musky, ambery scents but Marc's Essence is refreshingly floral and sensual. I loved it. It's definitely the perfume to wear to a party, on a weekend or on a bright sunny day :)

Gloria by Cacharel

My first impression of Gloria was that it was most certainly strong. I was right. The first smell of it was quite overwhelming but I decided to buy it anyway and found out later, much to my pleasure, the smell was powdery, very sensual and exactly what I wanted in a perfume. Suitable for evening wear and whenever u feel powerfully feminine. Love it.

Miss Dior Chérie by Christian Dior

My boyfriend chose this perfume for me and I was quite surprised (and quietly pleased) to find out that he actually thinks that this smell suits me.

What do I think? It's incredibly sweet. Thats for sure. Tried it on my skin and the sweetness made me worry if I would wake up tomorrow with my body infested with ants. The strawberry leaves and caramelised popcorn sure come out strong but still, not surprisingly, it didnt last long on my skin.

Definitely a scent for the young at the heart, and the literally young. Its feminine, which I doubt wouldnt attract the opposite sex. Having someone smelling like caramel popcorn should never be a bad thing. I wouldnt mind smelling like one for my boyfriend too.

Allure Eau de Parfum by Chanel

My boyfriend's mom bought this for my birthday and I have to say she did a pretty good job in impressing me!

I love the musky, oriental feel of the perfume and eventhough I do pick the subtle resemblance to the smell of an ashtray (haha), its actually quite sexy, reminds me of being in a jazz cafe and all you got on you is sensuality to claim as your own.

Black for Her by Kenneth Cole

I tried this on when my boyfriend wanted to try Kenneth Cole's Signature. At first, it was the bottle that grabbed my attention and secondly, it was the name. Very urban, I admit. However, when I sprayed it on, it took me awhile to take a liking to it mainly due to its strong jasmine scent. However, it's incredibly long lasting and as the smell dries down, it became a soft, musky, very sexy scent that I really like. I am definitely getting it.

Kenneth Cole Signature by Kenneth Cole

I love this smell on my boyfriend. He has always been into fresh and citrusy perfumes but this time, Signature seems to catch his olfactory attention as strong as mine was! He smells great, sexy and what is not good about that?

Women Of Earth by Avon

Bought this along with Haiku. Prefer Haiku for sure but Women of Earth can be a pleasant smell during a nice summery day. But not a distinctive scent for sure. A pretty looking Plain Jane.
13 May 2007

Haiku by Avon

I bought this for one rather non-perfume related reason i.e. I love poetry and Haiku's tag line said something about poetry so I was intrigued. But later, I found out that it smells good on me. Its not as long lasting as the other perfumes I own but its sexy and appealing, which is always a good thing.

Simply by Clinique

The smell is quite unique. I went for it because my man loved how it smells on me plus the soybean note was interesting. But after wearing it for a few months, turns out that Simply is just, well, flat. Never bought it again.
13 May 2007

Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka

Wearing Lolita Lempicka made me a little bit worried that I might be attacked by a horde of sugar-addicted ants at night. Definitely not my pick.
13 May 2007

Prada Tendre by Prada

I love this perfume and how it makes me feel sexy. The amber touch to it compliments my skin to perfection. Very parisienne I have to admit. The only fallback is that it didnt last long at all.
13 May 2007

Prada Intense by Prada

I love the bottle. Very sophisticated but the smell is too strong, almost acrid, for me. Didnt think twice to pass this one. Prefer it's sister i.e. Prada Tendre.
13 May 2007

Brit by Burberry

A really fresh smell, makes me wanna hop on the first flight to London! The thing is, fresh smelling perfumes are not really up to my liking. Still, it is a great young smell.
13 May 2007

Stella by Stella McCartney

I have to admit that Stella smells lovely and got to give it thumbs come for smelling nearly as lovely as it really is on my skin, which is not an easy thing to do. The only reason why i didnt buy it is because it didnt make me feel good. But then again, thats just me.

Cinéma by Yves Saint Laurent

I've been told that Cinema should be the best bet after I've finished my last bottle of Tocade. Unfortunately, trying it out on my skin turned out to be a very complicated process. Not only did the smell came out a bit intimidating, it lasted quite awhile with the unpleasant smell. Such an unfortunate thing coz I actually really liked it before they sprayed it on my skin.

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker

I am not surprised with the reaction from most people about this perfume. I've tried it before and the acrid smell almost reminded me of burnt skin, but of coz, the chemical in me is really tricky.

However, surprisingly, my mother bought a bottle for herself and it smells gorgeous on her. I couldnt stop complimenting her infact. I guess the compliments worked fine for me coz she bought me the perfume's body lotion despite of my pessimism. This was another surprise, it turns out that it smells a whole lot better on me than the edp version.

I had infact gotten a few compliments each time I've applied the lotion on me. Interesting eh?

Narciso Rodriguez for Her by Narciso Rodriguez

I've tried both the EDT and the EDP and I have to admit that the EDT smells a whole lot nicer than the latter. Although the it is gorgeous and incredibly inviting especially with its musky end notes (something that I absolutely adore in my perfumes), its staying power on my skin is so disappointing that I just couldnt make myself buy it, despite of its lovely smell.

Dolce Vita by Christian Dior

I've been searching for my next signature perfume for ages and practically exhausted my nostrils from different perfumes, from the latest to the classics and finally, I think I've found it in Dolce Vita.

I still remember looking at its ad when I was younger and how it smelled gorgeous but it never really occurred to me to try it on again until I came to the conclusion that classic perfumes never fail you. When I finally tried it on a couple of days ago, it struck me about one thing... it made me incredibly sexy, the exact effect that Tocade had on me for years.

A big oriental-woody fan, its warm scent compliments my skin's chemistry fabulously and I could never say no to sandalwood and vanilla combo so it is a plus point. Another major plus point is its staying power. I cant wait to get my hands on one and see the compliments rolling in. Lovely!

Desire for a Woman by Alfred Dunhill

It was a coincidence that one good friend of mine gave me a vial of this perfume just because she couldn't stand the strong scent. Considering that she is more into floral-oriental, I came to the conclusion that it should just tickle my happy nostrils. I was right.

Now, while other perfumes gradually move from one stage to another, Desire (for me) is a warm and sensual perfume that when straight to its strong (but good) notes of amber, sandalwood, caramel and vanilla. Although it didnt last long on me, the amber-vanilla mix smells delicious while it lasted. I intend to use the vial to its very last drop, thank you!
