| | Blue Grass by Elizabeth ArdenWell I must be an odd-ball, because I've always loved this one. It's one that comes and goes, I pick it up, use it, then don't use it for ages, then rekindle it again. I'm currently in a rekindle phase, and I still love it. It is powdery, and powdery fragrances are usually ones I avoid, but this has something unusual and genteel about it, certainly a 'granny' fragrance in some ways, but I find that depends who is wearing it. I wore this when I was in my late teens and early twenties and now I'm in my 50s and still love it. It's comforting (to me) and warm, and safe. Also, it has longevity like you wouldn't believe. I always appreciate a perfume that lasts and lasts... 17th December, 2010. |
| | Bois des Îles by ChanelI came here to write a review, but having read the others, I don't think I need to add anything to Diamondflame's review - because if I had the capacity, that's what I would write, word for word. Bordering on 'criminal' is absolutely right. I adore this perfume beyond all others. 25th December, 2009. |
| | Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent by Estée LauderA colleague kindly gave me a bottle of this today for no other reason than she loves me to bits. I ADORE this fragrance. It's going to be my summer scent. It's so warm, and sensual, and the guys LOVE it. 17th June, 2009. |
| | Secret Obsession by Calvin KleinI think it's the 'smell of the 80s' that appeals to me about this one, actually! It smells of summer holidays to me, and I love the combination of floral/fruit/wood in this. It just got warmer and more sensual on my skin, to the point that when the sample had finally worn off, I just wished I'd bought a full bottle. It's on my 'to buy' list. 24th December, 2008. |
| | Pure Grace by PhilosophyGorgeous, clean, soapy smell. Absolutely divine. 22nd August, 2008. |
| | Chique by Fine Fragrances & CosmeticsI wore this in the eighties too, and I still have some of the cologne - it's weak and obviously not as long-lasting. But what a unique fragrance this was - it always got comments. I loved it then, and I still do. 18th January, 2008. |
| | Le Dix by BalenciagaI love this, it's classic, sophisticated, full and vibrant, and by god you really know you're wearing a perfume! I really couldn't compare this with Chanel no. 5 - other than to say it's HEAPS better. 17th January, 2008. |
| | Kai by KaiI just wish this has more sillage and longevity. Because it's absolutely beautiful, but I'm forever topping it up, because it fades so quickly. However, I can't add to what others have said, this perfume is an absolute delight. 20th December, 2007. |
| | Prada Infusion d'Iris by PradaI love this fragrance. Ever since I first sampled it, I haven't been able to get it out of my head, and although I resisted it for 3 weeks, due to the price, I had to buy it in the end, and I haven't regretted it for a second. On me, it starts off light and powdery, but it dries down to a raunchy sexy smell that's almost musky. I just can't get enough of it. 25th October, 2007. |
| | Aromatics Elixir by CliniqueI stopped a woman in a shop to ask her what she was wearing when I got a whiff of her as she walked past me. She told me it was Aromatics Elixir, and I went and tried it the next day. I have to be very careful with patchouli, but I was very pleased to discover it works well on my skin, and dries down to a warm, sensual fragrance that I just can't get enough of. I ordered it straight away online. It's not often a perfume hits me that much, but I also discovered that after cleaning bathrooms all afternoon, and getting my hands wet, the tester I'd sprayed on the back of my hand was still there hours later. I love a fragrance that falls into the 'long lasting and great sillage' category, as well as being warm and sensual, so this is a total winner for me. 28th July, 2007. |
| | À la Nuit by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal ShiseidoI got my first whiff of this yesterday in Liberty. At the time, I had a bottle of Miel de Bois and a bottle of Sa Majeste La Rose, which I was about to take to the till. Then I tried this, and I put them both back. Not that I don't love Sa Majeste and Miel, but A La Nuit surpassed them. It is the most divine jasmine fragrance ever, and I just wanted to drown in it. Utterly gorgeous. 29th June, 2007. |
| | Le Baiser du Dragon by CartierI don't do perfumes with patchouli or almond in them, and yet this one ticks all the boxes for me. It's my newest love affair, having come across it at Gatwick on my way out to Cyprus, and I bought it on the spot, and although I took decants of my favourite perfumes on holiday with me, I wore 'the kiss' the entire time I was away. It gets great comments, and it makes me feel bold and uber-confident. I just adore this fragrance, it lasts really well, and I don't think I'll ever get bored with it. 19th June, 2007. |
| | Insolence by GuerlainI'm a sucker for violets, and I loved this straight away. It does last well, and it's now on my 'want' list. 2nd June, 2007. |
| | 4711 Echt Kölnisch Wasser by 4711This was my first fragrance, when I was a little girl. I used to dab it oh, so delicately behind my ears and pretend to be all grown up. Lovely, clean fresh fragrance, I can still smell it now just by thinking about it. I had no idea it had originated so very long ago! 19th May, 2007. |
| | Shocking by Elsa SchiaparelliI ladle this on, I love it so much. I've never smelled anything so rich and heavenly. It's currently my favourite perfume in my entire collection. 17th May, 2007. |
| | Omnia by BulgariI'm quite surprised that this has been described as 'quiet' because (maybe just on me) it has an amazing sillage, and similarly amazing longevity. I noticed this on a lady in Greece who was standing several yards from me, and asked her what it was. I sought it out at the airport before flying home, and it's now one of my favourites. I wear this one when I really want to make an impact. I think of it as a perfume with the 'thud' factor (I know that sounds odd, but to me it just smells heavy, in a good way). I love this fragrance, it's so unusual, and it always gets comments. 12nd April, 2007. |
| | Eau de Cartier Concentrée by CartierI absolutely love this fragrance and I get asked about it whenever I wear it. I wish I had kept it a secret, as all my friends have now started wearing it, rendering it not quite so special any more. I like to layer this, I can't get enough of it. 27th March, 2007. |
| | Glow by J.Lo by Jennifer LopezThis fragrance is addictive. My daughter loved it so much on me, she got some and it smells even better on her. It's a very very sexy fragrance. 27th March, 2007. |
