LP No.9 for Men by Penhaligon's

One of the top notch male scents of Penhaligons. I still find it less daring and impressive than Endymion, and perhaps less inspired as well, but it's a warm and sweet scent that I use occasionally.

Racquets Formula by Penhaligon's

I got a sample from Penhaligons shop in Windsor. Since I've never been a fonder of spicy scents, Racquets was doomed. After several consecutive days, I decided to give it up. Unlike other Penhaligons perfumes, its lasting power is quite impressive but it's too heady and oriental for me.

Douro / Lords by Penhaligon's

Douro doesn't do it for me. It reminds me of sevberal other, not exactly posh fragrances such as Aqua Velva and other cheap perfumes. It's fresh and light, but completely ordinary and boring.

Hammam Bouquet by Penhaligon's

I'm sorry but HB has left me disappointed. I've worn it dozens of times in the past couple of months. At first, it felt unqiue in its prominent presence of roses. However, lately I've noticed that the drydown isn't very pleasant. In fact, it leaves a bitter, not to say foul, residual smell that reminds me -- sorry to say this -- of urine. I guess it's one of those scents that you need to wear only once in awhile to appreciate it virtues. Perhaps it's also a climate thing: when I wore it in London, it smelled differently than in the warm climate of Israel. At present, I'm less impressed than I was intially. I have a lot of respect for this 19th century fragrance, but I certainly don't think I'll be using it on a daily basis. Endymion is still my favorite.

Castile by Penhaligon's

The best men's perfume I've ever come across, no doubt. I own several of Penhaligon's scents, all of which are good. However, this one is the top of the crop. It's the smell of cleanliness, intoxicating citrus blossom at first. The drydown leaves a more sophisticated touch of exquisite neroli. I wish more people wore this perfume instead of the foul chemical scents that get so much attention and hype. It's a unique triumph that has no parallel.

English Fern by Penhaligon's

An English classic scent that's sweet, green and fresh. Someone here described the scent of an English woodland, which is true. It's a classic gentleman's scent. It's one of Penhaligon's best scents, although some people might find it too mild and polite to their taste. I think it's great, though.

Lavandula by Penhaligon's

First of all, the correct name is La-vAn-du-la. It's supposed to be a feminine scent, and it really is. However, I own Penhaligon's scent library which includes a phial of this fragrance, too. I tried it on me several times. It's very special, unlike anything I've before, although it's totally inobtrusive and exudes quality and mildness. A strictly modern perfume for ladies, although gents can also wear it if you're asking me.

Endymion by Penhaligon's

comapring this exquisite fragance with Body Kouros doesn't do Endymion justice. Endymion is a very impressive, sweet and mild modern fragrance. It reminds me of Burberyy's touch in some aspects but it's much better! Endymion is a unqiue and impressive scent.

Lavender by Crabtree & Evelyn

I tried it once a few weeks ago. It was great! exactly what English Lavender should be. Lavender is one of my favorite scent, but not all "English Lavender" EDTs are alike. This one is certainly one of the best.

Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana

A close friend of mine used to wear it. I really liked it on him and decided to buy it after awhile. I guess it's one of those perfumes that small great on some people but less so on others. It starts off with a gentle lemony top note but after a few hours, it becomes sticky and almost nauseating. Every once in awhile I get tempted and wear it, only to discover after a couple of hours that it's too much for me.So my advice is: try it first and ask close friends what they think.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana

I rarely pay much attention to how manufacturers classify their perfumes. This one is allegedly for women but I wear it too. It's good, with a strong essence of citrus, but not an offensive one. It almost feel slike being at an orchard of orange trees at their blossom. If you're looking for something gentle and sans the foul musky base notes that mar so many masculine perfumes, try this one.

Lalique pour Homme Blue / Faune by Lalique

A very good one. It has a sweet fragrance but not one that suffocates you (as opposed to say Tempore by Laura Biagiotti). Indeed, it's a modern, fresh scent that is always a pleasure to wear both casually and in more official occasions. It's one of my favorites since 1999.

Boss Soul by Hugo Boss

a bad experience. I got a free sample recently. To be honest, nothing from Hugo Boss had ever impressed me before but I was willing to give it a try. It was terrible. A strong musky, not to say foul, odor that makes you want to rush to nearest shower and wash it off. Certainly not for me.

Touch for Men by Burberry

This perfume is realy unique: although I can't stand musk in general, Burberrys have managed to produce a rare combination here that I actually like a lot! It's my causal perfume, which means I wear it every day. In spite of the musk base notes, it feels fresh and floral on me. I've received very positive feedback from people at work, and friends. It's too gentle for some folks, so I always recommend trying it before you buy but I give it high thumbs up.

Marc Jacobs for Men by Marc Jacobs

I received a sample at Harrods, Knightsbridge a coupel of years ago. It was a disappointment to be gin with -- it males you smell like...a dog! Seriosuly, the combination of fig and musk is overwrought and the drydwon is even more horrendous. I know these people meant good, but it really is a bad scent. After reading all the rave reviews here I decided to give it another try to see if I hadn't judged it too harshly. I hadn't. It plain stinks.

Pure Cédrat by Azzaro

Heaven knows what these folks were thinking but it's terrible. Exactly the combinations of smells that I cannot stand: lemony, musky and in short: an awful odor. I tried a sample only once. It was more than enough for me.

Minotaure by Paloma Picasso

Of all the perfumes I have, this is the one I wear for official occasions or when I really need to make a good impression. It's not for anyone -- some would find it a tad too sweet. However, I've received many compliments when wearing it, and the fact that I haven't replaced it with any other perfumr in the past 10 years testifies that it's excellent.

Tempore Uomo by Laura Biagiotti

I had expected much of it, and indeed, the smell feels very positive at first but after awhile, it develops into an unpleasnat odor that sits on you all day long. I don't know what the people who complained about a short lasting smell talk about. The main reason I stopped using this EDT is that it lasts too much, and unpleasantly so.
