I love this scent and can wear it almost anytime. It reminds me of the old (ancient) Revlon Aquamarine fragrance from the '60s and '70s, not to be confused with whatever is selling under that name today. On me it has big sillage and long lasting power so I need to be careful not to overspray. It's got a place on my shelf right next to my Lutens, Chanels and Montales.
I so much wanted to love this perfume but sadly my experience is almost exactly like BayKAT's. I too grew up in the northern Midwest, had lilacs in our yard, and on me this doesn't smell at all like they did. And while it's nice enough, I unfortunately don't like it enough to wear it on its own anyway. So disappointed!
I've been wearing Calandre almost non-stop since it was released in the '60s. Never smelled anything like it, never smelled anyone else wearing it. Even after collecting a large and wide-ranging perfume wardrobe it is still my signature scent and will always be my favorite.
