| | Platinum Égoïste by ChanelReading the reviews, people seem to get really excited about PE. 8th July, 2007. |
| | Hoggar by Yves RocherVery, VERY pleasant stuff! Starts fresh (bergamot) and developes into a smooth combination of chocolate, coffee and vanilla (tonkabean). But very subtle, not in a "smells edible"-way. 1st July, 2007. |
| | Terre d'Hermès by HermèsVery distinctive and original, but I don't like it at all. 27th June, 2007. |
| | Ferré for Him by Gianfranco FerréI recently bought the Ferre for Him aftershave and it already has become my favourite. IMO, it's high class stuff. It's a very modest fragrance, doesn't shout out its smell, but accompanies you for hours, in a silent way. 23rd June, 2007. |
| | Cacharel Pour L'Homme by CacharelI tried this a couple of times. The opening is divine, but when the nutmeg appears the fun is over. There's simply too much of it. After the nutmeg has disappeared it's all soapy. Very disappointing scent overall. 2nd June, 2007. |
| | Chic for Men by Carolina HerreraThis smells like sweetened pipe tobacco. Not a bad smell, but when you use this fragrance you'll smell like you spent all day at the tobacconist. Nobody wants that, I guess. Therefore, thumbs down. 1st June, 2007. |
| | Homme Nature by Yves RocherOk smell, I mean for a showergel or shampoo..Very green, very natural. But no development, no warm notes, you'll smell all day like you just a came out of the shower. If that's what you're looking for, this maybe worth a try (for no money at all) 29th May, 2007. |
| | Herrera for Men by Carolina HerreraWatery and very flowery, no spice, no 'bite', woodnotes hardly detectible. Even if you like lighter fragrances with flowery notes, thisone of CH might be a disappointment for you. It's simply too feminine. 29th May, 2007. |
| | Phileas by Nina RicciThis is my all time favourite. Best looking bottle ever too. I had a bottle of Phileas about 20 years ago, and recently, I got my hands on a miniature. Just bought it to see if the smell was as good as I remembered. And it was! Rich, spicy, warm, oriental, complex but balanced. Never have smelled anything like it. I think it's a good thing though that Phileas has become rare and is not produced anymore; makes it even more legendary! 28th May, 2007. |
| | Ricci Club by Nina RicciI had a bottle of Ricci Club aftershave when I was about 25. I loved it. Ik was surprised to(recently) find out that RC is still in production and I bought a bottle on the web. A bit afraid that it might be a turn down, after more than 15 years. But it wasn't! I still love it! And although it's almost 20 years it came out, it's not oldfashioned in any way. 25th May, 2007. |
| | Chanel Pour Monsieur by ChanelQuite pleasant and inoffensive (always a plus!), but not very 'sexy'and definitly something for maturer/older men. Something children should give their father with Christmas. 25th May, 2007. |
| | Vetiver by GuerlainTried this the other day...what a disappointment that was! Top notes are very unpleasant, IMHO of course. Almost sickening. Om the drydown, it smells exactly like a bar of Sunlight soap. Quite pleasant actually, but nothing to get excited about! Be careful, try this before you buy: the beautiful bottle, the Guerlain reputation, and loads of positive reviews can be too much of a temptation... 24th May, 2007. |
| | Égoïste / L'Égoïste by Chanel'm not a big fan of sweet and woody. But this stuff is fantastic! Very characteristic, and yet subtle and non-offensive. Maybe not suitable for the office, or is it? It is strong in a way that it has 'body', it's finished and polished, but it definitely isn't overwhelming like lots of modern fragrances can be. It's a very private scent, in a way. 24th May, 2007. |
| | Chrome by AzzaroSharp and fresh opening, very nice. Because of this opening, I was tempted to buy this stuff a couple of years ago. Big mistake: after the opening it starts to smell really chemical, a bit like shoeshine. Not pleasant at all. 24th May, 2007. |
| | Azzaro pour Homme by AzzaroI used to wear this in my mid-twenties. Now, at 40+ I can't stand the smell anymore. The opening is lovely and fresh , I must admit, but that takes only 5 seconds. On the drydown, there's no warmth at all, and that's not how I remembered it. Did they change the recipe or what? It smells cheap now, and in fact, it's not that cheap at all! Spend your money on something more classy. 24th May, 2007. |
| | Essential by LacosteThis is truely terrible. I sprayed a little on my wrist at the drugstore: a disaster. I was expecting an 'easy' fresh fragrance, but this is really agressive stuff! The worst thing: it has a superb longevity. 23rd May, 2007. |
| | Signoricci by Nina RicciFantastic opening, but on the drydown a bit too soft for me. Indeed, discrete and non-offensive, but i miss a certain 'bite'. The basenotes are enormously long lasting, but not masculine enough for my taste. It remembers me of how my mothers shawls used to smell. Overall: good and original fragrance, but too weak and I really wonder if anyone else but yourself will scent it. So whats the point of wearing it.. 23rd May, 2007. |
| | Eau Sauvage by Christian DiorI do have great sympathy for old style citrussy perfumes. And in a way this is IMHO really a good fragrance. The lemon and basil are truely natural. It is fresh and non-offensive. However,I will never wear this stuff, I actually hate it. It's a depressing scent to me, this is how my uncles smelled at funerals when I was a kid. 23rd May, 2007. |
| | Mémoire d'Homme by Nina RicciNice bottle indeed! Great fragrance too. I allways felt comfortable wearing Nina Ricci's EDT's. They're a bit different, and I never knew other men wearing Ricci which makes it even more special. 24th April, 2007. |
| | Dune pour Homme by Christian DiorI really tried to understand why people like Dune, but I simply can't. It smells like shoeshine! Shoeshine can have a quite pleasant smell though, but not on human skin and not all day long. I'm curious if anyone agrees on the resemblance with Azzaro Chrome? 24th April, 2007. |
