New York by Parfums de Nicolaï
ideal for businessmen who go to Paris to cheat on their wives. after they had a stupid evening at the Crazy Horse they move on to Moulin Rouge and so on and so forth.
first of all, the fragrance is not very original (I get a lot of comments like, 'oh, you are wearing Egoiste again', or 'is that Eau Sauvage'), smells like so many fragrances out there, it's boring and dull.
secondly, it has nothing to do w/ NY.
finally, I have to concur with a couple of reviewers who mentioned three stages and a good dry down. it really does change through time and the dry down is nice, but nice is simply not enough.

Fleurs d'Oranger by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido
To me, it doesn't really smell like 'Fleurs d' Oranger, rather like pure BLACK TEA. Especially the dry down irresistibly resembles of Ceylon tea. Slightly less synthetic than Daim Blond, still nothing more than one of those soapy, boring scents. Don't get me wrong: Fd'O does not lack on originality, but nonetheless - it is so BORING.

Fumerie Turque by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido
Vanilla sticks one can find in an Indian shop. A friend of mine asked the other night, 'guys, can you smell those horrible vanilla sticks. G, I hate those', and I was like, 'oh yeah. That's my Fumerie Turque'. Silage, projection, staying power? Forget about it. Not worth the money.

Daim Blond by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido
Utterly sour, too sweet - a huge misunderstanding really. Although the scent spans a wide range of different notes (from the lowest frequencies of leather up to the highest ones of citrus and apricot) I couldn't help but notice a huge gap between those relatively 'fine' layers. The result: thin, chaotic, confusing olfactory. Furthermore, this is probably the only fragrance on the market that makes me sick. I sorry, but there's no poetic license to this statement - it literally makes me sick. Dry down is a nightmare. I expected so much more.

Terre d'Hermès by Hermès
I was always whining and complaining about men's fragrances being shortlived. Well, Hermes finally shot my mouth. Terre d'Hermes is SO wonderful and strong and sumptuous and enthralling. Ooooh...

Un Jardin sur le Nil by Hermès
This stuff is mind boggling. Discreet, but mind boggling. Don't expect any compliments (nobody is gonna be able to notice it), but do buy it and enjoy those first two minutes of its life.

Un Jardin en Méditerranée by Hermès
After your experience with Un Jardin en Mediterranee nothing is ever gonna smell good enough. No need to try before you buy 'cause this one is definitely a must-have.

Fleur du Male by Jean Paul Gaultier
G... so many different opinions. How are we ever going to achieve World Peace if we go on like this? Well, I'll tell you how: you can simply decide NOT to wear Fleur du Male. That would be a perfect first step towards making this planet a better place.

Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler
It is my impression 'Mugler Cologne' has been unjustly neglected fragrance. It's also falsely accused of being a cologne w/ a short life. Let me get to the point: among dozens of fragrances I tried/used - including exclusive stuff, such as Shiseido Palais Royale, Hermes, Etro etc. - Mugler Cologne qualifies for top 3.
