Gucci No. 3 by Gucci
I think more than anything in the world, I want more Gucci No. 3. Well, OK, beside world peace and an end to environmental pollution. It used to be all over the place in the 80s. Now it is one of the hardest perfumes I've ever tried to find. It is a perfect green mossy chypre, not as dry as Jolie Madame or pungent as Dioressence. In fact, there is nothing that really smells like it in my opinion, but I've been told Trussardi does. It comes in a classy bottle with an art deco sprayer. Really, it is so lovely. As to why they discontinued it, I am stumped.

Y by Yves Saint Laurent
This is the most delicious, thrilling fragrance I own. I am totally addicted to it. It smells like a moderately strong floral aldehyde. I would take it intraveinously if I could. It can be had for a song now, and it is so much nicer than fragrances costing ten times more.

Aimez-Moi by Caron
I'm in Purplebird's corner with this. I have to have every Caron, so I bought this unsniffed. I have Guerlain's Aqua Allegorio Anisa Bella (sp?) and I think it smells fresh and unique (not my all-time favorite, but interesting). Aimez-moi is indeed anise too. *Very* anise. I can't smell anything else. And it's not a real good anise. I gave it a good try, but on my skin this stuff is not beautiful. One of the few Carons I don't get along with.

French Cancan by Caron
I have this in pure extrait. The other reviewers must have a better nose than I because I cannot make out any distinct notes, violete, carnation, or otherwise. It is not overly sweet, and a little spicey with that special Caron familiarity. All in all I like it very much.

Narcisse Noir by Caron
Narcisse Noir is a warm, spicy, heady floral that I think could be filed in the floriental category. In the EDP, it is very strong and long lasting. It has a major citrus component, but in a warmed way, sort of like you would find in mulled cider, not orangade. I have one bottle open and two backups. If you like this, you might also like Bourbon French Narcisse.

Nuit de Noël by Caron
To me, this is somewhere between a floriental and an aldehyde. It definately reminds me of Arpege with more warmth. Somewhere between Narcisse Noir and Arpege. It is heavy and long-wearing. Its sweet smell rises up and hugs you, warming you through a chilling winter day. If happy holiday memories had a smell, it would be something like this.

Lune d'Été by Rémy Latour
A strong, flowery, wonderful fragrance that reminds me of lilies and summer. I have only seen it in huge EDT bottles in the US, and it is hard to find. A lot of etailers sell it inexpensively. I intend to get one of those huge bottles!

Patou For Ever by Jean Patou
Pineapple. Pineapple. Pineapple. Strong, sweet, fruity in a good way. Much more classy than most of the newer celebrity fruity perfumes on the market now because it is well blended with other notes that bring it back to earth. But you have to love this, because it is strong and lasting stuff. It's discontinued (frown) but as of this writing, still pretty easy to get for well below its market value from online discount etailers. I hope to have it forever (pardon the pun) so I have two huge bottles. This is quite easily one of my all-time favorites.

Joy by Jean Patou
Joy is the quintessential classic, glamourous fragrance. I think it sets the standard for perfume. It is a beautiful complex floral blended to perfection with perfect "performance" (lasting power, silliage). If I wrote more in this review it would only be superlatives, so I'll leave it at this, except that I recommend that your try 1000 too.
