Kelly Calèche by Hermès
The first few times I met her, I didn’t get what she was saying. Then one day, I finally experienced the sparkling balance between cool, dewy flowers (mimosa, iris, tuberose, climbing rose) and warm, rich, buttery leather. The scent possesses no creaminess, and is instead a heady rush of swirling, airy, watery, floral notes, a sip of Chinese tea, and the embrace of the finest leather. KC is elegant and carefree. She is like the feeling of being in a convertible driving under a canopy of trees at dusk, on the way to a summer party. You pass a field, thick with flowers, and the scent of roses and cool earth rises up to join the smell of the leather seats that were warmed in the sun, just an hour earlier. You can hear the jazz floating in the air and taste the cool drink before you even arrive.

Timbuktu by L'Artisan Parfumeur
Quietly exotic. Slightly musty, sweet, spicy, creamy overtone from the cardomum, after a tart, crisp beginning. A softly pungent dried fruit heart, like apricots and raisins leads to the dry, earthy vetiver, woods and incense drydown. I can't help but feel as if I'm tasting delectable, Indian Malai Kofta when I wear this. If asked for a scent it reminds me of, I would say Dior's Dune, but a much more interesting, rounded, warmer, and joyous scent.

Black Cashmere by Donna Karan
At times (winter, in the evening only) this scent is absolute magic. Exotic, dry wood (like you've never smelled before in a perfume), incense, silk, candle-illuminated tents in a desert camp, completely un-inhibited heart. I can crawl into a cacoon with this and feel completed, or sip deep red, thick, rich wine and bask in the glow of a fire and someone's gaze, wearing this. Snowy evenings, leaves of past, dark, warm, exiting.

Ruban d'Orange by L'Occitane
Exceptional. I tried this scent because I wanted a sensual, natural, sophisticated orange-based fragrance. It starts out as very fresh orange (but not overly sweet) with a hint of wood, rendering it effervescent and rich at the same time. Over time (the scent holds up on me for 9 plus hours through it's incarnations) it shows a few different faces, belying it's name. At one point the scent becomes slightly floral, yet with an undercurrent of the original orange/wood notes that keep it in line. There's also a restained and elegent lemon note humming in the drydown, and it finishes with a delicate, intangible, natural presence that I can only describe as sensual and real. Just what I was looking for.
