I'm not getting any of the musk other reviewers mentioned, but grownup, sensuous and not too sweet for such a vanilla dominated scent. | | Notorious by Ralph LaurenFor me, I get a fresh, crisp, clean sense at the opening, with a floral undernote, very cool, almost icy impression. The scent warms up on the drydown, but never broadcasts too much; it would be a nice pick if you work at close quarters in an office and don't want to offend anyone with a strong scent. I get the distinct impression of a very foody sort of fragrance, like cream of wheat with vanilla in it, made with creamy whole milk -- it's nice but too mild for my taste. | | Rousse by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal ShiseidoI'm usually a big fan of Serge Lutens fragrances, but this one, not so much. For me, it starts out with huge cinnamon red-hots, very much artificial notes rather than real cinnamon, unfortunately. The red hots are mixed with a hint of dry woods, and there is a sheer, light quality to the scent in spite of the theme, but the fake factor really puts me off. 2nd August, 2008. |
