Love's True Bluish Light by Ava Luxe

Wore this for the first time today, and it is lovely: soft, warm, sexy vanilla with hints of amber on my skin. I'm not getting any of the musk other reviewers mentioned, but grownup, sensuous and not too sweet for such a vanilla dominated scent. Lasted eight hours on my scent quenching skin without broadcasting too much. Delicious!

    Notorious by Ralph Lauren

For me, I get a fresh, crisp, clean sense at the opening, with a floral undernote, very cool, almost icy impression. The scent warms up on the drydown, but never broadcasts too much; it would be a nice pick if you work at close quarters in an office and don't want to offend anyone with a strong scent. I'll probably wear it for summer every once in a while, but I prefer a bit more oomph in my scents.

The name and ad campaign definitely do not fit this fragrance in my opinion; I don't think the model in the print ads would wear such a ladylike scent!

    Lann-Ael by Lostmarc'h

Very, very interesting and different. I get the distinct impression of a very foody sort of fragrance, like cream of wheat with vanilla in it, made with creamy whole milk -- it's nice but too mild for my taste. Worth a sample size try just because it's so unusual.

Poule de Luxe - Vanilla Mocha by Crazylibellule & The Poppies

Not much vanilla on this one really, but lots of other good gourmand things happening, cocoa, dark chocolate, a little spice, but overall, I'd rather eat my chocolate than smell like it. If you like gourmands, give it a go, but not for me.

Poule de Luxe - Vanilla Macaroon by Crazylibellule & The Poppies

Very, very, very sweet -- more sugar than vanilla, very foody and sugar cookie-ish. Too gourmand for me, but if you like it sweet, it may be worth a try.

Rousse by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido

I'm usually a big fan of Serge Lutens fragrances, but this one, not so much. For me, it starts out with huge cinnamon red-hots, very much artificial notes rather than real cinnamon, unfortunately. The red hots are mixed with a hint of dry woods, and there is a sheer, light quality to the scent in spite of the theme, but the fake factor really puts me off.

Un Bois Vanille by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido

Sweet, rich vanilla and molasses on the opening, then it softens after a couple of hours, with the vanilla still there, but undercut now with woody, spicy note, quite delicious from start to finish. I just wish it broadcast a little louder on my skin and lasted a little longer...

Arabie by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido

One of my favorites, unabashedly foody, with all the sweet, rich, dried fruits you can imagine without the "ick" factor of, say, fruitcake. Exotic and comforting at the same time, soft and round and full...lovely.

    Vanille Exquise by Annick Goutal

Opens with dry, light, powdery vanilla, quite pleasant, then, well...nothing. On my skin at least, this just faded away quickly without developing at all. Not unpleasant, but disappointing.
