    English Leather by Dana

Lady Luck is beautiful but blind.

Yesterday, while I was browsing at the local bazaar, downtown Athens, I stumbled upon a pile of cheap Chinese made perfumes $3 ,a piece.
Shiny colors fancy packaging and all the assorted paraphernalia.
Excusing myself to the poor seller,I tried to get out ,carefully, without damaging the merchandise.
Accidentally,a small brown cube of glass with a round wooden cap, fell off the pile.
Yes it was an English Leather cologne. Not Dana's,mind you,It was a MEM.!!!
Holly ones, a vintage EL,in a pile of garbage...
To cut a long story short, the seller found only 4 of them in the whole lot. He asked $ 10 for all, wholesale price (sic).
Needless to say I bought them.

The last time that I had one original MEM English Leather, was in 1981,a leftover in a small, local, going out of business store,

    A lovely fragrance.

As I always say,it's up to the individual. The perception of an airy fragrant wave, is always a matter of a momentarily lapse. The smell of that elixir,is heady, from minute one. As all the fragrances of the leathery kind, and I had a lot of them including KNIZE 10 , this beauty lasts on me, a good twelve hours give or take one, with no change. May be my pH is neutral,or leathery,( smiles). I don't know.

What I do know, is that I have 16 oz, of an old precious juice, seasoned like vintage wine, that boldly rhymes and rhymes.
A thumbs up, I hear you say? Not only....

    John Varvatos by John Varvatos

It looks like, that trying to compose an acceptable review for a fragrance,is always a hard effort.
Some say that it smells like this and that.Others exemplify by ditching a product and vice versa.
Still others 'try"to identify the elements and the combinations that emerge by the chemical or natural reaction that takes place in the fragrance. Most of them if not all ,are exercises in vain.

    For example:

My first and the subsequent smells of John Varvatos EDT.,has nothing in common with any of the 58 or so "reviews " .
Where is the sickening sweetness,of the opening, cake fruitiness, etc, etc.?

For me, the smell , leaps out and grabs you by whatever is nearer to reach. It dark, ominous, and hints occult .
Fruits , vanilla , leather and whatever, ( rhymes right), form a powerhouse that takes no prisoners. It is like attending a
free, hard rock concert, verging on heavy metal. No holds barred.

My opinion, since I must write one opinion, is , that to me , it is one of the perfectly balanced blends of known and unknown essences.

Softy,it is not. Forget middle of the road scents. It is a highly opinionated composition,

But it is my opinion, only, nothing more nothing less.
    Go somewhere and try it.

    Monsieur Musk by Dana

    Simply superb.

Today, a long time friend of mine, perfume nutty case, told me,that is unfair to keep good things for me.

Oh, I forgot, it was my first splash of this elixir ever.

Not being the kind of selfish guy.I told him that I bought it or some measly 14 Euros
and that it was a giant 240 ml bottle.
I think he is going to order one soon.

One thing is for sure.I won't describe my opinion about the chemistry of this Musk on my skin. After all,it is different on me, and my type might be, one in a million(sic),so it is worthless to say this and that.
Go out and find it .On the self of a mystic perfumery shop,in the chaos of a drugstore
or in the bins of a closeout ,everything must go, boutique.Try it, and if it tickles your fancy buy it.

What if it is dirty cheap.Price does not equal value.
What if Dana was about to set a $ 60 price tag to it?
    Hi End perfumery?
    Give me a break. No?

    Devin by Aramis

A long time ago, Devin, became the first "gun" , in my perfume armory.

Suddenly it was gone, nowhere to be found...Sad years, fragrantwise.

Thanks to internet shopping, it is available to me, again .

    Pure heaven.

I will not describe my opinion , elaborating on the notes and its character.

The only thing that I have to say is that, the user of this cologne, must use it, only after

    a lengthy douche session .

Being "hospital" clean, is the only way to experience and ENJOY,the true nature of the beast
