| | parfums*PARFUMS Series 3 Incense: Ouarzazate by Comme des GarçonsThis scent is spicy, warm, and slightly sweet. It reminds me quite a bit of the "earthy-yet-modern" smells I've encountered in Aveda salons. In fact, it is very reminiscent of the the colognes my gay hairstylist friend used to wear that would always leave me envious. This has much more depth than the Avignon or Zagorsk perfumes from the same series, and it has much more staying power -- so much so that I grew tired of it by the end of the day. Don't consider that a complaint, however. 3rd March, 2009. |
| | Chèvrefeuille Original by CreedWhile the fragrance smelled a bit generic upon application (bright, maybe piney, with musky undertones) it possesses a very spicy, complex base which emerges throughout hours of wear. I do smell fennel seed, and possibly a hint of fresh mint, but I certainly wouldn't call it "minty." It is, in fact, a scent that seems more like it was made by a "botanist" than a "floral arranger" (look to Fleur Du Male for that type of scent). It's the new foliage, wild weeds, and dried out flowers in the untended garden behind my great-aunt's house. 26th February, 2009. |
| | Fleur du Male by Jean Paul GaultierThis is a wonderful fragrance. It smells like being hit in the nose with a bouquet of flowers. It's unisex, but it leans a bit feminine. It isn't your aunt millie's perfume, however. It's very modern smelling, and would create a perfect olfactory safe haven in the cold air of a big city. It's very warm without being sweet. It isn't sharp in the slightest: I can hold the spray nozzle to my nose and not detect any alcoholic or pine-y aromas. 23rd February, 2009. |
| | Hammam Bouquet by Penhaligon'sA dull rose scent with a hint of citrus and an almost alcoholic smell that lingers like spilled whisky, or cheap aftershave. 21st February, 2009. (Last Edited: 24th July, 2009.) |
