Envy for Men by Gucci

GREAT FRAGRANCE. Could easily be my favorite of all time. It simply smells awesome when you first apply it and it just doesn't quit during the whole experience. It's spicy, earthy, rich, complex, and simply so darn good that I can't stop smelling my wrists while I'm wearing it. Envy has incredible longevity and is an absolute steal for the price. PLEASE GUCCI, do not discontinue this as you have all your other classics (original Gucci Pour Homme and Gucci Nobile).

Pi by Givenchy

I really like this fragrance, but I don't find it as strong as many of the other reviewers do. It has a wonderful soft sweetness to it (initially) that dries into a slightly woodier, more complex mixture. I don't find it as heavy of a vanilla overdose as many others do (maybe just my skin chemistry) and it easily has the most attractive bottle going these days. I got a great deal on this on-line, and have not been disappointed in it at all.

Acqua di Giò pour Homme by Giorgio Armani

This fragrance has MAJOR longevity problems. I love the initial burst of fresh herbal and marine notes, but it simply does not last long enough on me to make it worthwhile. Great fragrance notes, refreshingly minimalistic frosted glass bottle, but it simply does not last long enough for anyone (including me) to smell it 30 minutes after application.

Platinum Égoïste by Chanel

Wow, what an incredibly fabulous fragrance. This is one of those rare finds that is great when you first put it on, and seems to get more sophisticated, elegant, and down right manly as you wear it. This fragrance screams luxury, attention to detail, and professionalism. I love to wear it with a suit at the office (light application) or out for the evening with a date (an additional spritz works fine). This is expensive (and cannot be found marked down by very much on-line). Do yourself a favor, if you're mature (over 30 or so, I'd say) and want to really shine at work or for your significant other, give this gem a serious try.

Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana

I own this fragrance and have used it many times and I just can't fall in love with it. I am overwhelmed by the citrus notes off the top (citrus in a slightly sour "danky" way and not a fresh citrus burst). I agree with the other reviewers that it almost an intense lemon pledge furnisher polish off the top. After a half hour or so, it does dry down to an interesting mix of much more masculine notes, but to me, it never fully loses that lemon and ash tray smell. On the correct body chemistry, this could be amazing at drydown, but for me it is just an average cologne that has serious shortcomings.

The Dreamer by Versace

I'll agree, the top and middle notes of this fragrance are so pungent (in an intense flowery way) that it almost makes me dizzy. The longevity of this fragrance is amazingly good, and it therein where the value lies. The drydown is much more mellow and has an intersting blend of notes that I've never smelled before. Again, interesting, but not great, and nothing to really write home about. On some people, their body chemistry really brings these bottom notes alive, and on others, it is dreadful. Neutral review from me as you need to try it on yourself, and you must tolerate the flowery headache the first 30-45 minutes after application.

Gucci pour Homme by Gucci

I couldn't believe the reviews that this could be as woody as everyone said, so I went and sampled it. Yep, it is the woodiest fragrance I've ever smelled too. I absolutely love Gucci's Envy, but I'm not sure what they were thinking here. I applaud them for being so bold as to not release the same old "fresh" or "clean" modern-type fragrance, but wow, does this ever smell EXACTLY like the pencil shavings in your little crank pencil sharpener in grade school. It's a wonderfully nostalgic aroma, but it just doesn't work for me as what I want to smell like on a date or in a business meeting. For some people, this may be great, but for most, go get Gucci's Envy instead.
