Les Nombres d'Or - Tubéreuse by Mona di Orio

First sniff I thought Rubj and their openings are alike, but Mona's Tubereuse is a revelation. Decidedly not sweet like Rubj and good deal less expensive, thankfully. While definitely a tubereuse it is so much quieter, really a lovely hypnotic scent that has good but not over powering sillage. As I move my arm I'm catching whiffs of it and each time is a lovely surprise. Mona's comment about it being a twilight tubereuse is spot on, it isn't the full blown suffocating night time flower, but the light whiff of the fragrance as the flower begins to open. Truly masterful perfumery with obviously very good material. Oh Mona, how we'll miss you!

    D600 by Carner Barcelona

Quickly risen to the top of my list. Quality ingredients masterfully put together, for an iris and woods lover this is a must try. Not sweet and not too dry, the pepper kicks it into the stratasphere. Terrific longevity and beautiful sillage, always get compliments. Totally unisex too.

    Alahine by Téo Cabanel

This is an incredibly beautiful fragrance! The most well blended I've come across, all of the ingredients work so well together it is difficult to identify individual notes. From the gloriously herbal citrus top notes till the dry down when it finally becomes one of the most intriguing ambers. Not at all sweet, it has no rough edges, but is a soft deep symphony of scent.

Sillage is good without being overpowering, lasts a good 6 hours for me. It is a wonderously unique scent, you won't smell like anyone else at the party. Definitely full bottle worthy.

Jardin Blanc by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier

I have had a hard time finding my HG of floral white fragrances, but Jardin Blanc may be it! I know lilacs since they grow in monstrous quantities in our area and I smell not a note of lilac in this.

To me it is a glorious accord of jasmine, tuberose, ylang-ylang and some honeysuckle. The sillage is good yet couldn't offend anyone and on my scent eating skin it actually lasts for hours.

I love Goutal's Gardenia Passion and so have spent many dollars and lots of hours looking for something similar. I followed all the usual suspects, Fracas, Estee Lauder Private Collection, and many other recommended florals and been very unimpressed with them all.

Then I finally found Jardin Blanc and shouted Bingo! This is a beautiful white floral, it isn't cloying, strongly indolic or headache inducing, it is just sheer perfection to my olfactory senses!

Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia by Estée Lauder

Nukapai, you and I must have the same chemistry, I got the 'chemical' note you mentioned though it didn't even take two minutes. Too bad, when you love tuberose and gardenia you are always looking for that perfect combination. So far for me, I've only found it in Goutal's Gardenia Passion.

    Gardénia Passion by Annick Goutal

Tuberose or Gardenia, whatever it is, I LOVE it!!!!! I've smelled so many fragrances in the last few weeks and most were either forgettable or scrubbers and then I opened a sample of Goutal's Gardenia Passion and found my Holy Grail, truly I think I heard trumpets!

If you look in the dictionary under the word Voluptuous there MUST be a photo of this fragrance. I grew up in a tropical climate and what I remember most was the scent of flowers at night, gardenia, jasmine, nicotiana, all simply ravishing. I never thought I'd encounter such a scent again and here it was waiting for me in a bottle of Gardenia Passion.

I read in reviews that THE Tuberose scent is supposed to be Fraca, and since I'm so bowled over by GP I thought I had to try Fraca because it must be even better, WRONG! I didn't really like Fraca very much at all too synthetic for me and it certainly wasn't the creamy buttery white floral I love about GP. It smells so very natural.

It lasts reasonably well on me though I reapply it so often I couldn't swear to how long. Truly, I feel like I'm addicted, I have to have a hit of it frequently. During the day every few hours I have to have a good deep sniff of it.

Please, Goutal, don't ever discontinue this one!

    Samsara by Guerlain

After reading the many thumbs up reviews for Samsara I got a sample and at first I thought, pleasant, though not very strong scent. I really picked up only a powderiness to it and thought well maybe it needs to develop and after an hour it still smelled only 'pleasant', I could only tell it was still there if I sniffed my wrists where I'd applied it.

So I thought well this one just doesn't do a lot for me and I probably wouldn't buy more, then after a few hours I suddenly began to smell an awful musty odor. I'd been doing some dishes and thought it was probably time to change to a new sponge but when I smelled the sponge it wasn't musty at all, it was the Samsara!

I scrubbed my wrist and tried some other dusting powder on top of where it had been but I'm still sitting here smelling old nasty musty sponge smells!
