On my skin, the big floral took completely over and made me think I was wearing maybe an Elizabeth Taylor fragrance? Kinda loud, and not a lot of development, so I just got sick of smelling it by the afternoon.

I have always lilked this fragrance, a warm well balanced floral. I liked it in the 70s because it was so unfashionable. I like it today for the same reason. It's a very good bit of perfumery! I think the parfum or edp is the way to go with this one.

This was a surprising one for me--I'm not a fan of fruit usually. The top is a blast of blackcurrant/mandarin, then a bite of grapefruit? shows through for a moment. On me the fruit is complex, not the "fruity-shampoo" thing I get from other scents. I think the pink pepper warms things up, although I detect it as a note only briefly. The drydown is a nice balance of the fruit and white flower, anchored with the patchouli. Not too complex, but very attractive overall.

Narciso Rodriguez for Her by Narciso Rodriguez

I had great hopes for this(edp) for the first 5 minutes. Each time I tried it, the opening was an interesting play of floral notes---then a sour note reared up and dominated all for the next eon. Icky orange flower?? So I scrubbed it.

I like this one a lot, it is very modern, it has interesting development, really kind of an impudent feel to it. I do not detect any suggestion of LLP or sweat. I do detect a gingery heat. A completely wearable and enjoyable scent!

    Parfum Sacré by Caron

This is a warm, rose-infused incense perfume. It avoids the very dry feeling of Comme de Garconnes' Avignon, but still invokes the note of olibanum or frankincense very well. The opening is sparkling lemon and slightly peppery. To me rose is the predominant floral in the midrange, but a rather dusky, spicy rose, combined with the resinous frankincense accord. The base is very warm and sweet, but not cloying; the entire scent is really very seamless and rounded.
This scent is not loud but it is long lasting. Just all-around wonderful!

I have tried many times with this one---it smells stale to me with I swear a whiff of old cigarettes. I liked 2007's Sheer better.

This is a very pretty scent and I enjoy the citrus/ floral opening enormously... It soon turns to vanilla amber with a floral note above. I like the floral (magnolia? tuberose?) It has sillage in abundance. Unfortunately, for me the vanilla or honey note is too predominant and makes me think "generic modern perfume".

This was delightful in the vial, but on my skin became cold and cheap smelling. A scent that could be worn by the scary lady in the bathtub from "The Shining". The soapiness!!
I will try some other iris scents though....

Niki de Saint Phalle by Niki de Saint Phalle

I remember trying this around 1980---I liked it. But my tastes at that time ran more to Chanel & L'Air du Temps, so I distrusted my liking. I also was fascinated by the snakes---but again! distrusted myself.
Recently bought a bottle of EdT based on my recollection--love it! It has that chypre-boho thing; quite outgoing at first, & becomes more introspective throughout the dry down. But, still maintains an edge...

This was truly awful on me, chocolate/patchouli combo like a club to the head. So sad!
