Black Jeans by Versace

I bought the lack jeans and blue jeans on the same day (summer of 2001)... unforunately there was no sample for either so I had to trust the brand of VERSACE.

A slightly green, subtly woody scent which is too ordinary for me personally and does nothing for me ...
Glad it was discontinued but upset that I did not keep its nice bottle (I have since started an empty bottle collection of men's perfumes ...)

Innoffensive, ordinary, unexciting
Moderate sillage, 2-3 hour longevity for me

Blue Jeans by Versace

I bought the lack jeans and blue jeans on the same day (summer of 2001)... unforunately there was no sample for either so I had to trust the brand of VERSACE.

A slightly citrus scent, subtly fresh, subtly sweet which is too ordinary and does ABSOLUTELY nothing for me ...

A unexciting poor scent...
I send it to my weak scent club with

XS pour Homme by Paco Rabanne

Why was this created?
Why do they still make it?

It smells of nothing memorable ... does not last hardly impacts the people around you...

A poor scent...

Quorum by Antonio Puig

I owned it in the late eighties...
To me is a subtler version of green POLO at a fraction of the price... If you love POLO you will love this.
Not POLO sillage but beats it on longevity

Nowadays in the UK costs peanuts... so I will order one soon

Tsar by Van Cleef & Arpels

This review is for the original green bottle, I bought around 1990.

For me it did not quite do it... green like the bottle, fresh and slightly spicy...
It reminds me of the Green Polo or the Jazz by YSL, but these two do it better, and have identity and uniqueness.

I remember loads of positive comments from females when I wore it... Happy days

Égoïste / L'Égoïste by Chanel

I bought it in 1990

A strong scent (love it or hate it) to me it smells
(a) of cinammon which is not mentioned in the ingrediends
(b) very similar but stronger than the CK Obsession (which I also rate highly)

Anyhow
a strong spice perfume, good sillage and longevity, best worn in a winter evening in my opinion
A classic?!
In my top ten of all time

Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene

This was given to me as a cheap Xmas present back in 1990. I loved it but I never dared to put the bottle next to the other designer perfumes I owned due to its low price tag.

Now I buy it from time to time, currently do not own it, just to remind me how nice a simple cheap smell can be.

Its smell is unique, very difficult to describe ... a woody/flowery unique smell

Polo by Ralph Lauren

1988...
So strong, so different, you were immediately noticed.
Pine, pine and more pine...

I bought my first 3 perfumes in 1988 (simultaneously)...
a Green Polo, an original green Paco Rabane and a white bottled Kouros YSL.
I could never see myself wearing the other two again on a regular basis.
Polo is just timeless

Paco Rabanne Pour Homme by Paco Rabanne

Sweet memories 1988.
I remember I bought my first 3 perfumes in one go

This Paco Rabane, Polo (green) and original Kouros (white bottle)

A sweet, fresh manly smell, with average sillage and longevity.
For me this is now a very dated scent and which can barely compete with contemporary trends.

I might buy it again from nostalgia again

1881 pour Homme by Cerruti

Bought it out of curiosity in the early 90s.
It is cheap in price and maybe it is just me but I find it cheap in smell too.
How to a describe it?

Fresh
Inoffensive
Summery
Light citrus
Gentle smell of pines
Put a t-shirt on and take a walk on the promenade on a sunny day...

More fond memories?!
None...

Blu Mediterraneo Capri Orange / Arancia Di Capri by Acqua di Parma

A beautiful perfume indeed
smells of citrus tree leaves and reminds me of my childhood.

I would wear this after a shower, in a sunny summer day.
It is not strong, very subtle skin scent, very low sillage, low longevity (top ups neened)

The review is based on a sample, so I wonder if the sample was a bit old (out of date)

Sauvage by Christian Dior

Slightly sweet, slightly spicy, slightly pleasant, slightly feminine...
Initially it smells synthetically strong, good sillage for about two hours... longevity around two hours on two sprays
For me one I cannot quite make my mind up just yet

Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent

One of my all times favourites!
Very strong scent, non citrus, spicy, lasts long and reaches far
I first bought it in 1991
I bought it again in 2017
An evening perfume...
Enough said

Blackpepper by Comme des Garçons

A recent Xmas present!!
An amazing smell!!!
I love it!!
Where you been all my life!!

Problem One: For me it has average longevity (3 hours on 2 sprays)
Problem Two: People cannot smell it from afar (skin scent), but close up the scent is very very strong
Problem Three: The bottle cannot be balanced!! I mean it!

Despite all this I rate it high 9/10 ... I just have to spray loads throughout the day (one way I guess for a company to sell more bottles)

I got a sample in 2018.
Very weak ... smells like lynx spray
It has little projection or longevity...

Terrible for me!!
I was given five samples !!!, in my local pharmacy and I wonder if it had gone off, because I can hardly smell it (apologies to Boss lovers).

Uomo? Moschino by Moschino

A weak scent in my opinion, sweet and possibly floral...

I was given it as a present in 2015 ... I kept it in the car to use it as a "top up"...

A neutral, subtle, summerry, daytime smell

L'Homme Libre by Yves Saint Laurent

I was given this as a present in 2012.

A pleasant sweet, possibly floral, dreemy perfume...

Sometimes it feels very feminine to me, sometimes like a cheap doedorant spray.

Decent projection, smeels strong for around 3-4 hours.

A summer, daytime perfume.
For me it is lacking character and identity

Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche

Used to wear it in the 80s, I have not seen it around for ages (surprised people still buy it)

How do I class it?
Not sure... Not too sweet, not too fresh, no real spice, no real character it smells like an underarm deodorant... It did not last long so I had to apply every 2-3 hours (good thing it was very cheap)

I wore it in the daytime as I felt it was classless

Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent

Never really liked it but wore it in the late eighties as I had a lot of positive comments.

Sweet and slightly fresh, not lemony, hairy chests and medallions, perhaps a classic.

Good projection and longevity...

If it was not still pricey I would give it a second chance (or is it third now?)

From the YSL range, for my taste, JAZZ is the king

Antaeus by Chanel

I used to waer this in the late 80s and 90s and did for me in those days.
A very strong, sweet smell, no citrus or freshness... for me in the same category as Kouros by YSL (perhaps more aroma than sweetness)
It lasted for a longish time and turned a few heads.
Maybe a slight thumb up for me in 2017

Giorgio for Men by Giorgio Beverly Hills

I used to love it back in 1990

"Sweet and lemony", lingered for ages, smelt from afar...
I might buy it again from Nostalgia although I fear these scents are now dated

Armani Eau pour Homme by Giorgio Armani

I used to wear this in the late eighties and even then apart from saying ARMANI in the label it did very little for me...

A very ordinary citrus smell which does absolutely nothing for me personally...
It is fresh, citrus, innofensive, it could well have been an unbranded perfume from the jar of an old fashined village barber

Light, sweet, non citrus, nice synthetic smell
Lowish longevity and low projection, I used it infrequently in the daytime until it run out and never bought again...

Hot Water by Davidoff

I bought very cheaply in 2017.
A weak spicy sweet smell which for me last about 15 minutes and nobody really notices...
I use it in my wadrobe to freshen up my socks and underwear after they get washed, but I doubt even if it any good for that...

Davidoff Adventure by Davidoff

Smells:
... of practically nothing
Lasts:
... around 5 minutes
Projection:
... none in my opinion
Usage:
... Trainer deodorizer (not even good for that)
I cannot even give it a one out of ten. For me the undisputed worse perfume I ever bought or owned...

Cool Water by Davidoff

I never liked it or disliked it
I first came across it in 1994... This is a fresh, non citrus smell, not sweet, very inoffensive...
Smells like deodorant sprays in a gym changing rooms
It is ok for casual day-time wear, particularly in the summer.
I bought it again in 2017 and guess what? It is in my gym bag and I sometimes put on
