| | Angel by Thierry MuglerBefore I tried Angel, I was afraid of it. I first tried Angel, and I hated it; it was burnt rubber and everything else that people on here had warned of. Very soon after, I was absolutely in love with it and felt incredibly alluring. I applied the whole sample soon thereafter. 10th April, 2010. |
| | Filigree by ThymesI bought this after smelling it on someone else. It is not floral, fruity or sweet. I wanted something a little bit different. On me it smells positively dirty. I will say that it is unique, but this heavy herbal musk just makes me gift off a rotten waft, or like I have not showered. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Barbara Bui by Barbara BuiWhat other florientals dream of being. I love this fragrance. Someone else said it is "well blended". Well the composition is seamless and so complementary. The musk is not dark, and the slight powder is not talc, but rather the incense. I am surprised at how much I liked the thin veil of cedar throughout too. It is just sweet enough, and has the warmth of a lowlit fireplace. I want to wear this for a special evening in w/ the right guy. It melts into my skin. I think this would be my signature if it didnt feel too special for the use of everyday! 20th November, 2008. |
| | Paris Hilton by Paris HiltonIt seems like a decent fruity/floral. Paris Hilton would be perfect for a lunch date at the country club. It seems far too playful for a more serious occasion and doesn't make a particularly unique or strong statement. I think on one positive note, the fragrance doesn't seem to change much from through the dry down; it is pretty honest. I might buy a small bottle for those times when I want to project a different image. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Spark for Women by Liz ClaiborneI did not find spark super warm, but in saying that, it is definitely not cool at all. The honey-caramel top notes seem to parallel eachother and complement the rose petals which smell fresh rather than dried. Someone remarked that it is hard to enjoy the florals, well I wouldn't call it a floral fragrance by any means- it seems more of an amber to me, or maybe thats the slight warmth to it. I think the fragrance manages to be well-balanced and still have all of the notes distinguish themselves somewhat. I don't own any other fragrance like this, so I will keep it around, but I'm not sure where or what I will wear it too. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Lolita Lempicka by Lolita LempickaLet me be honest. Upon my first few spritzes of LL, I was overwhelmed w/ a haze of purple licorice and molasses and a strong splash of urine. I was regretting ever testing it. I was unable to change my clothing or shower, however, and had to go about my day w/ it still on. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Jessica McClintock by Jessica McClintockThis was my very first fragrance. I cannot seem to find it's match. I smelled it on my friend in h.s. and not knowing what else to ask for Christmas as a teenager- I asked for Jessica McClintock. It just works very well w/ my chemistry. I received compliments from men and women whose eyes would light up as they asked me what it was! People would be surprised when I would tell that that it was JM because it did not smell the same to them on themselves or others. I have tried other white florals and at age 27, I am ready for something a little more unique and mature that works this well with my chemistry. Now, as I type this, I think I want another bottle of an old favorite. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Bal à Versailles by Jean DesprezI agree w/ the rockstar on the old elementary school smell. Is it the chalkboard? This scent does not agree w/ me in the bottle nor when I wear it. The floral is musty and elderly floral print. I might try it again in ten years. As renperd said- I want to like it too! I'm sure I sound like an unrefined ignoramus, but I really do not understand. Sorry. I am neutral only because it is more my particular chemistry rather than the quality of the scent that is the problem. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Gardénia by ChanelThis fragrance is so clean with a seemingly singular floral note. Apparently there is no actual Gardenia in it, and I do not smell a trace of vanilla anywhere. Someone else said watery, and that is a good description. What I love about it is its lightness and naturalness (it does not smell synthetic at all). This is a perfume you might wear if you did not want anyone to know you were wearing perfume. It is like a white flower halo. I spray my business cards with it and hope to have some always in my collection. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Brit by BurberryThe lime top note never seems to leave, and the vanilla and musk both seem to be competing. Especially in the beginning, but in moments throughout- the lime smells more paint thinner or maybe nail polish remover. Luckily the vanilla drowns it out for the most part. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Amazing by Bill BlassThe first whiff is nail polish remover w/ an underlining of green floral. I only put this on originally because it came in a gift sampler pack and I had run out of my signature scent. Well after the dry down it was quite nice. I was not in love w/ it, but received more than a handful of compliments. It's cool and light w/ impressive sillage. I agree w/ Sherrie in that it does not feel particularly "amazing" as the name suggests. It suited my chemistry, but did not capture my heart at all. 20th November, 2008. |
| | Bijan by BijanSoapy amber and nothing to write home about aside from the aforementioned cool bottle. 20th November, 2008. |
