Ma Dame by Jean Paul Gaultier

I get a real kick out of this. It is just so darn tacky.

If you fancy something silly, fizzy, kind of daft with zero pretentions towards being classy or elegant, this is what you need. Life is hard enough without us all going for understated elegance. It is a pick me up, and I don't think it is particularly loud or offensive on the bus.

The only one you need to please is yourself. I was a bit dubious but eventually talked myself into the smallest bottle, and unlike all my classy, understated frags this one is nearly empty. It makes me smile.

One of the top chefs round here has combined haute cuisine with a kindergarten kind of presentation. The soup comes in watering cans etc. You laugh at the way your meal looks and then really enjoy the taste. That is what this feels like to me. Who needs sophisticated elegance when you can have plastic coated orange zing?

    Ferré Rose by Gianfranco Ferré

My sister got me a gift set of this from Italy. I had never heard of it and had no expectations. It is very pleasant and easy to wear, a bit safe but I do find myself reaching for it and as I have the shower gel and moisturiser the overall pampering effect works for me. The rose here is fairly subdued but but it does linger nicely blending with the fruits. A nice fruity floral. Not going to offend anybody.

    White Musk by Body Shop

    Dear Body Shop

Could you please please stop selling large gift boxes of White Musk and White Musk Paraphrenalia as appropriate presents for female friends/ friends of friends?

White Musk is ok and has its place, but I am very fed up with men (and some women) going into your shop and coming out with a beautifully wrapped year's supply of the stuff just for lil ole me.

I get at least one a year from people with whom I exchange presents, and using up White Musk bath and body lotion is all I seem to do at the gym, on those evenings when I know I will be going home alone. White Musk is nice enough but it is not a perfume I want to wear anywhere. I have had it.

I do not want any more White Musk or White Musk side kicks.

White Musk seems to be the present of choice for a guy who is in a hurry, is not trying to impress and knows that women like your products. I shudder to think of all the Mammies out there who have to buy anexes to their homes just to store the stuff.

And because I was raised Catholic I just cannot get myself to bin a present somebody gave me, so I am using it up on the sly.

Alternatively if you could recommend a therapist who will make it ok for me to just bin it...

    many thanks

    Mae

    Angel by Thierry Mugler

no need to buy it. To recreate Angel go to a bar and tip a pina colada down your front. Cheaper and more fun.

Emporio Armani She by Giorgio Armani

This is my favourite too. I must have gone through five or six bottles of this and now I have the lotion and bath gel thanks to my sister. I have tried to be unfaithful to this but I keep coming back to it. I suppose the fact that I feel "dressed" when I have it on. It feels classy and sensual at the same time. Love it (although I guess my real love is the original Armani fragrance which has been discontinued - please bring it back Mr Armani!)

    Rush by Gucci

I love this fragrance, but I do object to the packaging as I think I must have chucked it away with the trash - I can't find it anywhere and it is plastic.

Very silly review I know, but I would never throw out a nice bottle by accident.

This fragrance is big, bold and sexy BUT unlike everybody else seems to say it has no staying power on me. I have to keep topping up and I did check with my sisters and girl friends, I am not imagining it - they get nothing after two hours: Must be my chemistry.....

I can't find it in EDP, so maybe that is the problem.
