Chanel Pour Monsieur by Chanel
Chanel Pour Monsieur instantly took me back to my high school days. This, admittedly is not very long ago (early 2000s), so what's the deal?
CPM is a clean, eloquent, chypre scent that has a light green tone to it. The opening is somewhat citrus-y, but not overpoweringly so. The dry down is muted and slow, until it settles after about an hour into its green base.
Silage is medium, but it lasts quite a while on my skin (lightly applied 5 hours ago and can still smell it while typing this). Recommended for office wear or a day trip; definitely a summer-day scent with a right-out-of-the-shower feel.
And yet, when I put it on, I realized Nivea for Men Aftershave Cooling Balm ('menthol and vitamins' edition) is the EXACT SAME SCENT. I mean, good for Nivea for copying such an elegant, established scent. Walking around as a young teen, I unknowingly projected a classic scent that no student would ever dream of -- including myself!

Vetiver by Guerlain
Clean, soapy/spicy scent that smells great for the price. Longevity is rather high, but starts to fade around 2 hours. A good night-out scent.
I really want to love this scent, but it doesn't mix well with my skin (most green scents do, though). It leaves a "playdough" note when mixing with my skin.
Nonetheless, a thumbs up scent. This is THE definition of a man's scent. If only I could wear it!
Recommended, but sample first. I'm lucky I did.

Bois du Portugal by Creed
Warm, warm, warm. Sharp woodsy opening notes that dries down spicy and soapy. During the dry down, there is a sweet note (tobacco?) that I actually don't care for, but disappears rather quickly. Just like an old cedar cigar box.
I was in love with this "old man" (read: "established") scent for months, until my girlfriend said she didn't like it (she prefers sweet modern scents). Huh. Now I just wear it when she isn't around!
(and, as a side note, I apply just a drop of Terre d'Hermes when I am wearing BdP to counteract that sweet note. It works really well, and adds some dimension to the one-act TdH!)

Romance Silver Men by Ralph Lauren
I used this for years until one day I dropped my bottle when exiting my car (fell out of my bag), and the whole thing... gone. gone!
This is a simple scent with a touch of warmth (just a bit). Left a metallic scent on my skin that was quite pleasant. I was complimented while wearing this frequently. Ironically, I could barely detect it!
A subdued year-round scent that will never offend. Maybe I will rebuy this one...

4711 Echt Kölnisch Wasser by 4711
Ah, 4711, what a scent.
The scent is clean and refreshing. Citrus, and Bergamot-- yum!
It lifts me up instantly... but fades away quickly. And I mean quickly-- this stuff is here and gone!
For such an old scent, what can you expect? Nonetheless, it lasts no more than 45 minutes on my skin, and then there is no proof it was ever there. This explains why it is so cheap for large quantities-- you will use it.
Yet its fleeting nature is what keeps it so dear to my heart; 4711 will leave you wanting more and more. It's a great summer cool-down scent; I frequently put it on my forehead to relax. Works everytime.
Recommended.

Terre d'Hermès by Hermès
I just don't get the hype. The scent never develops; from minute 1 to 1000 it's exactly the same: dirty orange synthetic gasoline.
It does not jive with my skin AT ALL. I kept trying to come back to it, but I have never been happy with it.
While I was vacationing in France this winter, it seemed as if every other young guy passing by was wearing Terre d'Hermes. It got played out really quickly.
This scent might be cutting-edge and popular, but I cannot see it being in production for much longer.

Silver Mountain Water by Creed
A perfectly clean tea scent with a touch of metallic-- exactly what the name implies. Yet I find it too "modern" and non-confrontational; it is a nice background scent that doesn't ask for much attention.
A nice scent for a cool spring day... or maybe office wear. Nothing like the other full-force Creed scents though (which I truly prefer).

Original Vetiver by Creed
Oh, what I went through to discover Original Vetiver!
I ordered a sample of "GIT" on TPC, and it was great: spicy, green, rather soapy. I loved it so much, I ordered another sample-- and it was thin, clear... and boring! Something was amiss.
I had to go to Harrods of London to sift through all the creeds to find out TPC sent me the wrong scent originally! I recieved Original Vetiver, and boy am I lucky!
It opens with a spicy note-- almost too spicy at first, but fades quickly, leading into a greenish, clean scent. It works perfectly with my skin, and sometimes even leaves a slightly metallic scent (this could just be my skin type, though).
Perfect match for traveling through Europe in the Winter. Recommended.
