Rose de Nuit by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido
Rose de Nuit is a fragrance that is really tricky to pull off, except if you are a fourty-year-old, exceptionally beautiful woman who would actually enjoy picking up a twenty-something boy at her sister-in-law's funeral after the latter died of breast cancer. It is disturbingly intoxicating, expensive-smelling, outrageously seductive and provocative beyond imagination. By far (and I mean BY FAR) the most daring fragrance out there, and maybe the best one too. A slap-in-one's-face masterpiece, a shock, a total accomplishment. Absolutely stunning. Make sure you are through with your therapy before you consider wearing this one, or better still, only wear it if you actually never needed to see a shrink (or are sleeping with him, in which case, well, I think it would all make sense... ;-)

Derby by Guerlain
Wearing Derby by Guerlain is to fragrance what a ride aboard an Aston Martin on a Scottish road is to driving : you certainly will not do that everyday, but once you have tried it, you know there is nothing beyond it. The road is rocky at first, and it takes a few minutes before you get used to it, but once you start getting comfortable, it just gets better and better. Derby is the only true male "perfume" in my opinion : it exudes serene luxury and utmost refinement in an exclusive, distinctive and obvious sort of way... Stunning.

Ho Hang by Balenciaga
Ho Hang is the olfactory translation of the word "understatement" : it sparkles with refinement. Classic (and classy), effortlessly chic, appropriate under just about any circumstance... It is both fresh and sophisticated, perfectly clean yet somewhat "dirty", a little old-fashioned but sure never to go completely out of style : a magnificent scent, for those who know, and need not say more. Bravo !
