Alain Delon / AD by Alain Delon
I had a mini-me version of AD in the mid-eighties. Loved it for a while, but in my opinion it did'nt stand the test of time. Maybe I should have put the cap back on.

Racine by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier
The first whiff of Racine brought me back to my Sicilian roots. This is a powerful, slightly arrogant scent, which will feel like a slap in the face to many boys and girls. Very distinctive and seductive, this is nothing like any other unisex fragrance. Nice buildup, lasts forever on your skin, keeps its beauty. The cap on the bottle is... large.

M7 by Yves Saint Laurent
Doing 110 mph behind the wheel of an old British sportscar, light drizzle on the windshield, grey clouds everywhere... perfect setting for a whiff of M7. It feels so warm you won't need the heater. Whenever you feel like taking your place in the driver's seat, YSL's fragrance won't fail you: commissioned by a guy called Ford, named after a motorway and a Bavarian sports-saloon, M7 leaves most fragrances far, very far behind. Works in my small VW, too.

Cool Water by Davidoff
If you're 15 and going to a school dance, you can be forgiven for spraying this on. As for Wham! and Duran Duran in the 80s, decent packaging and clever marketing did the trick. It's not bad, but there's not an inch of refinement in it. Bland and dull.

Bic Homme by Bic
Yuck. Smells just as bad as it looks. I've tried it at a supermarket counter in a small Mediterranean town. If you ever meet a girl behind the counter of a supermarket in a small Mediterranean town, buy a lighter instead.

Coriolan by Guerlain
Good fragrances don't turn up every year, but when Coriolan was launched, it had no contemporary rivals. In a period when lemon and water were the only ingredients of smash-hit fragrances, Guerlain successfully introduced this splendid woody alternative. It may not have the same undisputed qualities of Guerlain's fragrances from the past, but for the sake of diversity: keep one in your collection. The bottle still looks good, too.

Habit Rouge by Guerlain
This sweet, spicy fragrance attracts men and women alike... it feels like a nice warm coat, its powdery quality gives it that distinguished character that you won't find in any other male perfume. Habit Rouge is unlikely to ever hit the top-10 list of best selling fragrances, but it will outlast the lot of them. A daring, refined classic.

Vetiver by Guerlain
Think of those hot summer nights on the town, crowded parties with beautiful women and passionate, sexy, cuban rhythms: that's what Vetiver is all about. It's macho, it's stylish, and it will never fail the proof of elegance. The original Vetiver is an absolute classic; the current version features a new bottle (bring back the old one, please!) and a slightly softened top note, all in an attempt to attract a younger audience. It still does the magic, though.
