Rumeur (new) by Lanvin

A clean, crisp white floral, and I agree with the reviewers who found it rather retro, in feeling - in the best possible sense, for me, anyway.
I do see the resemblance to SJP's Lovely, which I like very much, but this one is more effervescent, more complex, and at the same time, rounder and easier to wear. I detect no musk, hardly any woods, and mercifully, no headspace technology aspect whatever, either.
It's a modern interpretation of the great and wonderful Fleurs de Rocaille, and a very thoughtful, inspired one at that.
Not too familiar with Francis Kurkdjian's work, but on the strength of Rumeur, he has just acquired a new fan.

Parure by Guerlain

The top notes of Parure are not immediately pleasing, as is often the case with chypres, which makes every exponent of the genre a fascinating journey of discovery.
This is one of the finest, a delicate floral bouquet interlaced with shades of purple lilac and delicious plummy goodness. The drydown notes would be even more beautiful, if that were possible. Surprisingly enough, it is.
Have you ever seen, smellt, imagined, a plum tree in full bloom, in the early days of Spring? A vision of loveliness, which this perfume captures to perfection.
