Amouage Silver Cologne by Amouage

Cloying and annoying.

Bulgari Aqua pour Homme by Bulgari

I would put this in the well-crafted but not particularly interesting file. The only strong negative is a hyper-melon note which I don't really like.

Chaumet Homme by Chaumet

Mabye my sample was old but all I got from this was a pleasant but inconseqeuntial soapy/ozonic mix, like a toned-dwon version of Givenchy Eau Torride.

Quorum by Antonio Puig

I love older scents and get very tired of younsters saying scents smell outdated. Well, this stuff smells outdated. It's spicy, that's fine, but it's big, dumb spicy. There are other scents from this era still in production that are much better.

Pure Vetiver by Azzaro

I thought this was a little brutish. The vetiver didn't feel enrichened (like, say, Vetiver Extraordinaire) or sharpened (like, say, Guerlain), just simple and blunt. Not bad, just simple.

I Coloniali Aromatic Fragrance of Guajaco Wood by Atkinsons

I tried this after reading positive reviews on Basenotes. I found it to be a bit cloying, the woody note too sweet and aromatic without anything to balance it.

Devin by Aramis

Green, a little earthy, maybe a hint of sweet citrus. Not a deeply interesting scent but a very pleasing one.

Azzaro pour Homme by Azzaro

This is one of those that when the young guys say "not for the younger crowd" you feel sorry for them. Very much a classic, I suppose very much of its time, but if I was still a young buck this would be the kind of thing I'd be looking for to set me apart from the crowd.

Jaïpur Homme by Boucheron

A pleasing oriental, but perhaps a little to eager to please. This one comes on strong but, to my nose, starts to pall after a while.

Wall Street by Bond No. 9

For an expensive product this had a very annoying sweet seaweedy drydown. The guy at No. 9 sprayed this all over my forearm and, I must say, it did have staying power. It was hard to wash off.

Fleurs d'Oranger by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido

Big, intense neroli with jasmine, tuberose and spices. Not a polite gentleman's afternoon cologne.
