Gris Clair by Serge Lutens Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido
Sorry, but... Seriously? I get grape soda and really not too much else. An hour or 2 into the drydown it smells better, but still. At these prices you want to be blown away right away without having to wait for a drydown. To me this is expensive grape soda for your skin. I'd have to be smacking bubble gum to wear this...

Caravelle Epicée by Frapin
One of my favorites. This is a genius spicy woody-oriental. 'Coriander, nutmeg, hot pepper, pepper, thyme, Gaiac wood, patchouli, amber, tobacco, sandalwood' - I would add also Cedarwood, Myrrh, and Tonka to that list. I would also add Cumin and Galbanum (or Frankincense). I'd describe it as "Aromatic Dry Spices layered on Precious Woods", "Spicey Oriental Woody", and "Absolutely Fabulous"! A very beautiful base of creamy patchouli/sandalwood and is brimming with irresistible spice and Cedar notes. I bought a full bottle and am tempted to overspray. But it's rich and feels like a concentree - there's no need for more than 2 spritzes. Great sillage and longevity too! I get a beautiful honeyed sandalwood amber and frankincense in the drydown. I love it on its own and give it 5 stars, but I enjoy layering it with Montale Patchouli Leaves in order to get an Earthy-spicey-woody-oriental-mideastern thing going...!

Patchouli Leaves by Montale
I love this juice! On me, it starts out with a very surprising coldness that one one else seems to have mentioned. In fact, it's like a big scoop of Mint Chocolate Patchouli ice cream on me for the first 5 minutes. It develops quickly and warms into a loamy patchouli within 15 to 30 minutes on my skin, but it starts out as patchouli wearing a winter coat of bracing green (mint and/or lime and/or lavendar) and dark chocolate-oak boots. Granted, this feeling of coolness is very fleeting. It begins morphing almost immediately into a warmer patchouli and amber brew with a touch of vanilla. This patchouli/amber/vanilla dry down lasts for hours, continually warming until it becomes less about patchouli and more about amber (about 12 hours later). During the patchouli/amber/vanilla drydown, I somtimes layer other scents on top. (My favorite combo is PL with Gris Clair by Serge Lutens. My 2nd favorite combo is PL with Neroli by Anick Goutal.)

Bois du Portugal by Creed
I love the big blast of Lavender in the beginning mixed with dry cedar. The spicy woody dry down is also excellent. Great sillage. Lasts full-force for 5 hours easily, then becomes a clean skin sent for 12 more hours. One of my 3 favorite colognes.
