    Pure Poison by Christian Dior

Love it! I had been looking for a scent that had main notes of gardenia, not just hints. This scent is divine and the lasting power is great. At first spray, I get a swirling scent of orange blossom, followed by the gardenia. Then comes the jasmine. It seems to get stronger and stronger for the first fifteen minutes after it is applied, eventually settling down, but still with the orange trying to poke through. The orange keeps this scent from just being another white floral and lends a bit of creaminess to it.

I don't understand how folks say it fades. When I used the tester in the store (which I knew had been there for about two years, open,) yes, it faded quite fast. But brand new when I bought it, it is quite a potent piece of work! I myself try to avoid buying my perfumes from department stores or drugstores where they most likely have been sitting a long time, even years. I opt to get my scents from online discount stores that I know have a high volume of sales and move their stuff fast, so I know my stuff is as new as possible.

I find this scent reminds me of being ten years old and waking up at my grandparents' home in Florida. It would be warm and I could smell the orange trees as the breeze came through the open windows. I would say this is a yummy floral.

    Must de Cartier by Cartier

WOW! I was walking through Macy's today, looking to try some new scents (before buying online for cheaper, lol.) I was leaning towards a Chanel, but they did not have in stock what I wanted. The cartier was right next to me, I picked it up and within ten seconds was having the gift set rung up. I KNOW I overpaid, but I wanted it NOW! I remember wearing this years ago and cannot remember why on Earth I ever gave it up.

At first spray, it is a whopper of a smell, nearly overpowering. I felt transformed. Give it ten or fifteen minutes and it hits the comfort zone. Warm and inviting, yet staying somewhat skin close.

What is funy, is that as I was leaving the store, the two clerks who were earlier trying to sell me on the latest Beiber, Calvin Klein, Beyonce and Jessica Simpson scents stopped me and asked what I had sprayed because I smelled heavenly!

This is MUST for anyone not wanting to smell granny-ish, yet too old to smell like lollypops.

Belle en Rykiel by Sonia Rykiel

Ooooh! This reminds me very much of Angel, even though I do not like Angel, it is too cotton candy/pine needle smelling on me. But something about this reminds me of Angel. Belle en Rykiel is what Angel WANTS to be, but isn't. It is sexy and sweet, with just the right abmount of Oooomph at the end. Fantastick, and truly overlooked. I am in love!

    Rykiel Woman by Sonia Rykiel

I bought a few bottles of this blind, based on reviews. I must say, at first I did not like it. I sprayed about four good pumps of it and it killed me all day long. Eight hours later, I could still smell it! Lesson learned, I used it again, this time only spraying once on my wrists and rubbing it on my neck. WOW! Much better without the overkill. I can immediately smell something that reminds me of YSL's Paris. I think it is maybe the dates. But about ten minutes later, the incense and leather come out to play and take over, pushing all the other kids off the swings. The dates still try to show up though, along with some violets, keeping this fragrance ever changing. I really like this, it is feminine without smelling like candy and flowers. Too bad it is getting harder to find. I got enough to last me a long time though.

In addition to this, I have also fallen in love with Barbara Bui. Had a truly difficult time finding it anywhere, but found a retailer who had 13 bottles of them and grabbed them all up. I will smell good forever!

Love it. It is very neutral. That's good for me, since I really do not want to smell like fruits and flowers. I know this is discontinued and I had a REALLY hard time finding it. I own 16 bottles of this stuff now and have no regrets!

Everytime I spray this juice, I feel I want to snuggle up in my sheets and take a nap. This is pure heaven. It swoops all over my body as if I had just gotten out of soaking in a warm bath laced with sandalwood oil. Noone is really going to smell your neck and say, "ooooh." It's more of an all over scent, where you can't exactly find out where the smell is coming from, it's just "there."

Ohhhhh.... it is also so nice (in a strange way) that it is didcontinued. Noone else is able to smell like me, even though most of my friends want to. My evil but sweet regenge. It's all mine!

I am sad I can't really find this anymore. I always liked it. To me, it smelled like DIAL soap! I know that may sound weird, but it was a very clean and airy kind of smell.

    Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior

WOW! Yes, this at first smells exactly like root beer, coca cola and play-do. But after about 15 minutes, the drydown is delicious! It lasts all day, too. My own opinion is that this ends up smelling exactly like "Warm Vanilla Sugar" by Bath and Body Works. Very sexy, but never in a trashy or pushy way. LOVE IT!

    Dior Addict by Christian Dior

WOW! I gave this a good two sprays while I was out and abuout at the mall. Probably not a good idea for TWO sprays, since one would have been good enough for the day. I sprayed a few more scents, trying to keep them apart from eachother, on different hands and arms. Even sprayed one scent on my pocketbook. Well, after ten minutes, I couldn't smell a darn thing anymore, so I left the store. I kept smelling each wrist/arm etc... to see if anything caught my interest. A few stores later, I was nearly embarassed to say that I got this BLAST of scent from (somewhere) on me, and thought, "Oh God, floks must hate me right now." But I loved it, and tried desperately to figure out which scent it was. Well, it turned out to be addict!
Yes, at first I did get some sort of strange plastic smell. But now, nearly three hours later, I smell this wonderful, intoxicating boozy spiced vanilla. Yum, it is pure heaven. And it lasts! I am a bit disappointed in the high cost of this juice, but given it's strength and longevity, I think I'll invest. Actually, I am going to use my eBay bucks and discover cashback bonus to get three bottles of this stuff. My husband absolutely loves it!

Oscar by Oscar de la Renta

WOW!! I had worn this years ago, and recently gave it another try, as I was looking for a new scent. I cannot believe I went so long without this stuff It is amazing!!!!! At first blast, it is way, way strong, do not let the EDT fool ya. It packs a punch. One or two sprays is enough. I also detect a slight bit of a leather smell, but it may be the patchouli I am smelling. It next settles into a sweeter, more floral smell.

I am decaring this my fall fragrance, since fall is my favorite season. Wearing this somehow reminds me of leaves crunching under my feet, along with a cool strong breeze.

This scent is in no way, shape or form a "girlie" scent. More of a "I'll smile politely and then rip you to shreds" kind of corporate scent. I LOVE IT!

    La Môme by Pierre Balmain

I bought this unsniffed, because I wanted something that was not readily available and would not be what every other person was wearing. I understand it was limited edition for the La Mome movie, Balmain does not even list it on their web site anymore. It was a good choice. From the first spray, it is warm and cozy, strong and long lasting, but not overwhelming. Sort of sweet, but ambery. I ended up buying six bottles of this juice! Now I am stocked for at least the next three years! This will be a perfect scent for autumn and winter months. I get lots of compliments on it. Also, a plus, was that I only paid 18.99 for each 3.3 ounce bottles!!! If you look around, you can find the Balmain perfumes usually for under 25 dollars a bottle.

    5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden

OK, so my mom gave me a gift card for 25 bucks to Marshalls. I recently got a promotion at work, and will be transferring to another store, so I wanted to treat myself to a new "office scent." I had been used to BIG fragrances, but a lot of my previous co-workers often told me I seemed too tiny for such big scents (I am 5'4" and 105 pounds.) I came across this scent, and it was only 19.99 for a big 4.2 ounce bottle of the EDP. I know a lot of times discount stores end up carrying the bulk of the "failed" fragrances, but I had remembered all the ads for this one, and figured it would be a safe chance to take. I bought it unsniffed, since it was in one of those tamper-proof plastic cases.

At first sniff, I was a bit let down. I was thinking this was going to be less "girly," and more of a clean scent similar to that of Chanel No.5. I got lots of tuberse, lilac and sort of a gardenia. When I read what folks had to say about it though, it seemed like maybe I should give it a fair chance. I sprayed this before heading out to work today....good three to four pumps on my clothing. Well, for eight hours (and counting) I can still catch a slight whiff of it on myself when I move about. It is still a bit more floral than I hoped it would be, but it is somewhat comforting and pleasant. My husband says it smells nice, and my co-workers joked around that I smelled "approachable." It has good staying power.

In fact, I made an impulse decision before leaving work for the night to return to the store I bought it at.....and I got another bottle of it. It is stashed away in my drawer, and even though I might take six months to finish the one I already opened, there is another one ready on hand when it is empty. I think it is the best 19.99 I have spent in a long time.

    Joop! Femme by Joop!

WOW!!! I came back to this fragrance recently after remembering I used to wear it years and years ago in college. Now I cannot get enough, and wonder why I ever stopped wearing it. It is soooo long lasting. I spray it in the morning around 9am before work, and can still smell it on my clothing and skin at 10pm when I come home. My clothing smells for days!
What a treat Joop is. It is sweet and woodsy at the same time, and oh so heavenly!
I think Joop is way under rated. Rarely do I ever recall seeing ads for it, and it is so darn cheap nowadays, I got a 3.4 ounce bottle for only 27 bucks at an online retailer. I get more compliments on Joop than any other scent I have ever worn. People ask what I am wearing, and ask if it is something new. They are shocked when I tell them it has been around for over 20 years.
This is by far the yummiest scent I have ever smelled. I think a Joop revival is in order! Start advertising again, and I sure hope they never decide to discontinue this fragrance. I have 15 bottles stored away, so I think I am safe for the next seven or so years. It is now the only scent I will wear, and nothing compares to it!

    Obsession Night by Calvin Klein

I must say, I discovered this one by mistake. I had gone to Marshalls the day before, and seen Secret Obsession by CK, and intended to buy it. I had also planned on picking up Gucci by Gucci. When I went back today, I sprayed the Secret Obsession, and came to hate it with a passion. Then, I found the Gucci was in the EDT, not the EDP as I had thought. Bummed out, I saw this, and remembered looking it up on Basenotes earlier. Hey, it was so cheap, I figured I'd give it a shot.
Well, I got it home, sprayed it, and UGH, thought I made a huge mistake. I was overwhelmed with citrus and lemons. Considering I had sprayed it, and would have to see it through until I showered, I went to work. Well I'll be darned! This scent changed in about a half hour, and I could detect a faint smell of lemons, but more so, a vanilla and wood smell. How neat! I found it a weird smell, but somehow unique, not icky. Sort of sweet, sort of creamy.
So now, I am in the process of still testing this one out. I seem to like it, plus the bottle is heavenly. If all goes well between us, I will be stocking up on five more bottles of this juice. Sadly, it is only 20 dollars for a 3.4 ounce bottle, and I think it is not going to last in the CK line. I don't even recall ever seeing it in the department stores. Maybe it was "released" straight to the discount stores....sort of like a movie being released straight to DVD, lol? So buy up while you can if you like this. I think it will be great in the winter months.

    Cabochard by Grès

AHHH. This is perfect! I wear Bandit and Cabochard exclusively. The scents of "today" seem nothing, compared to the classics of the 40s and 50s and earlier. Too many of them smell like candy, or worse yet, flowers. All my co-workers slather themselves with creations from Bath and Body Works, smelling of one dimensional fragrances of vanilla, peaches, blackberries...ick.
I actually love Cabochard so much, I bought 17 bottles of Cabochard, when I found it for....yes.....14 bucks for the 3.4 ounce spray! Oh so cheap, but only in the price, not the scent. I even spray Cabochard on my pillow at night, just so I can wake up to it's comforting smell. Yes, it screams of leather, but in a subtle way, like suede. My husband likes the smell, and although I think Cabochard and Bandit are somewhat sister scents, he complains the Bandit smells a bit too manly. I say, too bad for him! The guys I work with actually appreciate my Cabochard, and some of them have even asked to wear it. Most of them spray their wrists several times, and sniff it throughout the day, telling me it covers up the horrid smells that the other women are wearing, lol.

    Bandit by Robert Piguet

Whew!!! What a lovely mess this is. I actually got this really cheap in the 3.4 ounce EDP (with the certificate of authenticity sticker on the wrapper) from someone who couldn't stand it. I am now the proud owner of EIGHT large bottles, enough to keep me happy for about ten years, lol.

OK, so this is bold! One spray please, no more. I also recommend spraying it on your belly button. If you spray your neck, you will surely suffocate yourself.

This is full on B**CH. It is noxious, and rude, and speaks loudly of, "Go ahead....I know you want to tell me I reek, but you just cannot do so, because you know you cannot get enough." I smell leather and tar. Also, strangely, I get scents of some sort of sweet cola smell. My husband is a roofer, and I swear I smell asphalt and tar mixed with the leather. The flowers are there somewhere, but they have been thrown on the ground and stomped on.

This is not a scent for a child with pigtails and lip gloss. This is for the woman in the black fur coat who can pump a full clip into someone, then dump the body off the pier, all in broad daylight.

Instantly, upon first spray, I feel total confidence. I am climbing the corporate ladder, stepping on the heads of those below me. No one will mess with me...think twice....if I smell this rude and truly adore it, I don't think you have the confidence in you to tell me otherwise...or else...................Bang!

I know there were many reformulations of this. The Robert Piguet website does NOT list an EDT for sale. I think this might have been from whan Adrienne Arpel took over the scent, and I don't think it is quite so good. In 1999, the scent was taken back and reformulated once again, bringing it closer to the original. Go with the EDP, not the EDT. And give it a chance. Maybe spray your clothing about an hour before you put them on?

I turn heads left and right when I wear this. The scents of today are so "pleasing" that they become somewhat boring. Bandit stands out in the crowd. Also, I highly recommend giving Youth Dew a try. An old scent, but a powerhouse as well, and not looking to please anyone.

AHHHH Opium. How lovely you are. Just like the drug, you are intoxicating and addictive. I am not a fan of "girly" scents. I love the powerful scents that mean business. Knowing by Estée Lauder

This is about the only Este Lauder scent I like. I wore it all the time at one point. It has a lovely woodsy drydown. I remember that I wore it while dating a guy about 15 years ago. I had left a bottle of it on his dresser. Years later, we remained friends (long story) and I took a visit to see him at his new house. There was my bottle of Knowing sitting on his dresser. He had moved it with him to his new home! I quickly sprayed it on. Even after all those years, it was still the same great fragrance I remembered. To this day, it is the only perfume I have ever owned that an ex-boyfriend like so much he kept it long after our breakup. That really impressed me. I also took the opportunity of spraying it on his pillow and bedsheets before I left, when he wasn't looking. He called me the next day, laughing, swearing he had dreams of me.

    Eternity by Calvin Klein

ICK. I bought this in college, when it was the "in" fragrance. I didn't like it then, and still do not. Eternity is a good name for it, but it doesn't say "where" your eternity will be spent while wearing it. How about the hot inferno of Hell? It is definately a floral scent, but all I ever smell in it is Lilly of the Valley. No, no, no. Eternity is the reason I cannot, to this day, ever stand the smell of Lilly of the Valley in anything, even a scented candle. Like many other Calvin Klein scents, this one stays on my skin and in my nose forever, leaving me with a headache.

    Trésor (new) by Lancôme

OK, so I remember being all of 21 years old, and my soon to be (much older) husband came home with a bottle of this for me. I wore it, and liked it, but wasn't a big fan. It was too sweet. But, all said, he had picked it out himself for me to wear, so I finnished the bottle. HA, I soon found out that he would pick out everything for me, based on whatever HE liked. Needless to say, we are divorced, after ten years of my living in Hell with an absolute control freak who wanted me to be a dress up doll. I smelled this on a customer the other day at work, and was instantly transported to all places evil. It was a dark reminder of my ex, and I nearly fainted. Maybe my thoughts on this would be different if not for such bad memories. But it is a no-no in my book. It also lasts a horribly long, long time.

Ah.... I used to wear this years ago. I loved it. I so wanted to go back to it now, as I was recently on a mission to find a new signature fragrance. Sadly, it is quite expensive, and hard to find in the larger size. I refuse to buy 1.7 ounce bottles of any fragrance, when I can pay on average about ten dollars more to get the 3.4 ouncers. Ever place I searched on line, it was out of stock. I still hope that one day, I will find it available in the larger size, and then I can snatch up a few bottles of this. It is wonderfully refreshing. It is great for romantic wear, but also a great office scent, as it screams "POWER" with a "I'm in charge" sort of scent. This is a fragrance with confidence.

    B by Boucheron

Oh well, the high cost was short lived for B. I had been looking to try this, and it is available now all over online stores, a 3.3 ounce bottle for as low as 45 bucks. That's great if you like it. But sadly, such a drop in price, so short after release had me wondering. Well, I got to give B a try. It is nice, it is long lasting, but it is nothing wonderful. Even with they hype of "the over 20 natural ingredients..." it still fell a bit short of my expectations. Even the original Boucheron as well as Jaipour now fetch a higher price tag than B does in most perfume online stores. The bottle is wonderful. Such a great feeling in my hand. Such luxury. Such taste. But such "plain" is what sprays out. Yes, it is a great powerhouse scent, great if you are one tough as nails corporate female exec....but don't expect men to be swooning at your feet. Even my husband's reply was, "Oh, yeah, you smell nice." What I was looking for was not corporate. I was looking for "nibble on your neck" kind of scent.

Ugh. I read all about this, and when I went to Macy's, I was thrilled to try it. I sprayed a card, and sniffed away as i shopped around. There was something comforting about it. I smelled creamy coconut. Somewhat convinced that it might be a "me" fragrance, i sprayed it on my arm. OK, it's good. But oh no! Even hours later, I could still smell it, and I was becoming sick of it. Coconut, coconut, driving me coconuts-o! It seemed to be flat. No interesting notes here, just plain coconut, overpowering everything else. Frankly, it is sickening.

Where is it???? I am a huge fan of the original KORS from 2002. Big and boozy, with lots of red wine and roses. (I have three bottles of the juice stashed away.) I guess I expected the same from the "new" Michael Kors. I sprayed this twice, and oh....maybe the bottle was full of water, but i got nothing. Light, airy scent. BORING! This would be perfect for a schoolgirl skipping jump rope, but not for a 30 something year old woman. This is so casual, so plain. Not worth the money.

I wore this when it first came out. I always got the impression that I smelled like a Christmas tree for some reason. Then cotton candy. Even now, when I smell it on others, it makes me sick, sick, SICK! Angel is today, what Poison was in the 80s. Overworn and overdone. I still get the smell of pine needles mixed with sugar. Strangely, as much as I hated Poison in the 80s, I have an appreciation for it today. I don't think that will be the case for me with Angel 20 years from now. It is pure ICK!!!!!!!

    Poison by Christian Dior

This scent always brings me back to eighth grade. All the cool girls wore it, and over wore it. Nothing but grape juice.
Strangely, I still reach for a bottle of it when I find it at a perfume store, and spay it on. Then I inhale deeply, constantly for ten minutes straight. It can be intoxicating and sickening all at once.
I think the big thing with Poison, is that folks don't give it a chance to mellow out and develop, before screaming yuck. Or, they over use it. Personally, I wear Kors, which has the grapey thing going on, but is supported by a backbone of brandy and insence, rounding out the berry scent and giving it some smokiness. But I still to this day long for Poison! I know that the biggest thing keeping me from buying it again is the price. Even after all these years, it is still at a good 80 to 85 dollars a bottle, even on the lowest priced web sites. Just like the fragrance itself, it is a bit too rich for my blood. That's more than a week's worth of groceries.

EDIT as of 4/27/11.... I just went out and got a bottle of this, I had to have it again. Now I am hooked. My husband is ga-ga for this. Also, I think I get the most compliments from my 20 to 25 year old co-workers who are into the Bath and Body Works stuff these days. They had never smelled this (too young to remember) but now they all want it too!!!! When you think that a 90 dollar bottle will last six to nine months, the cost is not that bad. After all, most scents these days are about 50 to 60 bucks, and only last two months before they are gone. Poison lasts at least a whole day.

Ugh. Pure Bloom? How about Pure Blah! I bought this because the Lovely line is so talked about, and figured this must be just as good. Sadly, it smells cheap. At first blast, it is some sort of floral smell mixed with grapes. Then, it dries down to a chemical tuberose smell. I tried to like this, I really did. I wore it and even asked co-workers to smell my wrist. Most said it was a faint smell. Not what I was looking for. The bottle is cute, but there is nothing special about this fragrance that makes me want to feel sexy or even fresh. Just plain boring and sort of gross.
