Gendarme V by Gendarme
Wow! I really wish there was a 2+ thumbs up symbol below. Sometimes i write a review after a day or two of wearing and the excitement is still there and i kick myself later because my thoughts have changed. Not with Gendarme V. This is #1 or #2 (i alternate between GIT and this) of worn scents.
I will really be adding nothing more the aforementioned comments (especially scentementals.. a big champion of the scent on the board) except the following:
1) although pepper is not mentioned in any layer of this scent, i smell it.. and it is wonderful. Maybe it is an herb/scent i'm unaware of that mirrors but the pepper head is nice.
2)This is the same scent for hours, and in a good way. Imagine a scent that has no middle or drydown really, is totally synthetic, and still can maintain this worthy buzz, kudos Topper if you read this board.
Regardless if they admit it or not, a top 5 scent on anyone's shortlist that has tried it.
Regards...

Original Vetiver by Creed
So i purchased a bottle of OV off of a fellow basenoter and my impressions are as follows: 1) This scent does have a nice package of classic "vetiver" in it. I saw a few reviews explaining that it does not have the smack that Guerlain Vetiver has, which is true.. but you can definitely pick up the vetiver in this. 2) EXTREMELY LONG LASTING, must be my body chemistry but i put this stuff on (1 spritz on each wrist) when leaving to work at around 8:30am one morning and before i showered at 10:30pm i could still pick it up.. and pretty strongly i might add. Amazing longevity on me. All around (even the bottle is very cool looking) this beats out my GIT, and that is extremely hard to do imo... darn near perfect... if any creed is worth the retail price, this one would be the closest.

Extract of West Indian Limes by Geo F Trumper
One of the shortest lived fragrances on my skin. Like j_dubyah suggests maybe another individual will have better luck. Great scent though, the lime is subtle in a manly way and makes for a good before bed spritzer. A little too expensive for the daily ride.

Extract of Limes by Penhaligon's
This will be the third predominantly lime scent that i have purchased. Like all scents from Penhaligon's it has a very english (sandalwood, leather) undertone to this lime rendition. If you are looking for a lime scent, you cannot go wrong with this one.. if your looking for staying power though.. citrus is very difficult in general, and this is no different.

Violetta by Penhaligon's
I have not personally tried this fragrance. I have friend though that owns a fragrance shop (qedusa.com check it out) and he says this is his best selling violette fragrance for MEN! As a woman's fragrance i'm sure this would be great but as a guy who has been addicted to the violette scent since using trumper's violet shave cream, i have heard nothing but strong reviews.

Castile by Penhaligon's
Castile is a very nice and well made fragrance. I think the success/failure of Castile with your personality type is huge here. Castile IMO teters on being exclusively feminine. The house of Penhaligon has not let me down yet with a truly impressive smelling scent. But i think this scent is more geared toward a woman. Again i place this as neutral because it is not to my liking, but well made nonetheless.

English Fern by Penhaligon's
English fern is nice for the right person. Which in this case is not me. You can definitely smell the quality in the scent but i think the mark is missed by this being "too woodsy". With alot of green scents, you have a little something to offset the green. Not here. If you "seriously" want to smell like your rolling in an english field, this is all you.. just not my bag, but high quality

Blenheim Bouquet by Penhaligon's
All i can say is WOW! Great scent! I am a big fan of the way that Penhaligon's has used pine in this offering. A few things though.
1. For some reason your gfriend will not like it.. they dont understand the whole pine sol smell will burn off thing
2. Rather short lasting, but worth spraying on all day
3. Just over the fence with being "too formal". So not an everyday Cologne IMO.
Although these things are something to think about it is a truly classic nice fragrance. Just a little more maintenance than most.

Cool Water Woman by Davidoff
Very strong sillage from this scent. My wife has worn it in the past based on my usage of Cool water for men. I think this is a stronger showing for the woman in your life than for you. This version is a very clean, warm, relatively low cost option

Cool Water by Davidoff
After trying GIT and comparing the quality between GIT and cool water it is an obvious gap. If you like cool water, save some money and upgrade to GIT. I feel anyone that had the attention to detail from their scent choices, that came to this site and actually did research will find GIT more to there liking.

1903 by J Peterman
Totally agree with the previous reviewer. Unbelievable scent, its like wearing a portable rootbear float. Hints of sweet and elaborate tabacco followed by a settling into a pleasant smoky, sweet wood that will last quite a while. It makes me think of what it would be like to step into a very manly, yet extravagant 1903 wooden home. Very unique.. get the spray bottle. The 1903 wood encased flask is nice but the decant is a much nicer application method. Can't go wrong.
