    Dior Homme Sport by Christian Dior

    Sniffed from the bottle, this smells like lemon cleaning fluid - but not in a bad way. Five minutes on my skin and it's all ginger. Gradually the two combine into something more subtle, and really nice, although it would be even better if it lasted longer. A thumbs up because it's my favourite ginger fragrance and I enjoy it from start to finish.

    Cool Water by Davidoff

    Chose this one during a long session of blind testing, and initially was disappointed that I'd picked such a ubiquitous old favourite instead of something more unusual. However, having lived with it for a few weeks it's obvious to me why it's so popular - it really is great.

    Many comments on here credit Cool Water's inspiration to Creed's Green Irish Tweed. They're both very good, and for sensitive noses the Creed is certainly less synthetic. However, they're not identical by any means and personally I don't find Cool Water to be inferior, just different (and a fraction of the price).

    This is so familiar from it's 90s heyday that I don't bother wearing it socially (everyone's smelt it a million times before). It seems too light for a night-out anyway, unless it's a warm summer night. However, I love this after a shower when I'm staying home, day or night, because it prolongs the feeling of being washed and clean.

    Yes, many snobby noses don't approve of this one, but that only makes me like it's simple cheery freshness even more.
