M7 Fresh by Yves Saint Laurent

This is a fantastic re-invention of the classic M7. It's aggresive grapefruit opening is invigorating to say the least, but it calms down and blends into a softer, subdued M7 after an hour or so. If you liked the original, this one's essential for the warmer months when wearing M7 would be lethal. :P

Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana

Mass appeal, original, and enticing beyond all imagination. If I can't pick something to wear, Dolce is never a wrong choice. May it be the first day of classes, a party, or a wedding, D&G pour homme is your go-to guy. It's slightly sweet with a mellow tobacco note. Add some subtle woods in there and light, almost subliminal spices to round out the base. Although it's not as imaginative as the controversial Dreamer, it is fantastic for what it is.

Jaïpur Homme by Boucheron

EdT: Amazing sillage, lasting power, magical powers... Ok, maybe not the last one but this magical elixir from the far east comes quite close to giving you powers beyond your imagination. It's sweet. It's very sweet. But Boucheron does it SO well. In addition to adding a slight hint of spiciness, Jaipurrrrrrrr is not cloying in the slightest.

EdP: Everything above x10!

Gucci Pour Homme II by Gucci

Though not as great as it's ancestor, the original GPH that graced into our lives in 2003, GPH II does not fail to impress. It's lighter than the original (well, quite a deal lighter considering GPH is one of the most domineering scents out there) and terribly unique considering the other "light" scents out there. It also shares a slight woodiness/spiciness that it retained from the original. Is it just me or is it somewhat sour with a rhubarb note in there or something. I could care less; it's a delightful scent for warmer weather for those who really prefer colder weather scents.

Unforgivable Multi Platinum by Sean John

If you ignore the fact that it's by Sean John (and in case you can't, just pretend it's Creed) it's actually a very well crafted scent. It's light, fruity, a little sweet. The stuff grows on you. I didn't particularly like it at first but after smelling it a few more times, I really enjoy the scent. It doesn't last terribly long but it has decent sillage.

Reaction for Men by Kenneth Cole

This stuff is pretty good. I like the fact that it's not "sanitary wipe" clean. It's fresh and fruity and it's very fun to smell. Too bad it doesn't last worth a damn. Ah, c'est la vie.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana

Utter and complete crap. It shares almost NO similarities with its ever-popular brother. It's sharp, unpleasant, and more disinfectant-smelling than Gio.

Héritage by Guerlain

Mmmmm, this DOES smell like BdP. Although not as good as the legendary Creed, Heritage is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. Habit Rouge pales in comparison to this timeless fragrance in every way so comparing them is pointless. It's amazing how Guerlain created such a classy and old-skool fragrance during the early 90's. The dry woods and the spiciness exemplifies masculinity and the sweetness is comforting as well. If you like BdP but really don't feel like shelling out the money, you won't be disappointed with this stuff.

Insensé by Givenchy

I do not like the topnotes. I do not like them with a fox. I do not like them on a box. Seriously now, I really dislike them. This is usual since I usually dislike things that give me a severe headache. The basenotes are nice though. However, I usually pass out before I get to there so... If you like really strong and heady florals, this one's for you. If not, don't even touch the bottle. You'll regret it.

Body Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent

This is a solid fragrance by the masters at YSL. It's sweet, spicey, and incense-y with a mace note (or is it the benzoin?) that makes it unique. It's gotten compliments and this stuff lasts forever too. Although I wouldn't say BK is one of my all-time favorites, it is a dependable fragrance. One you reach for when you don't know what you want to wear. The Jason Kidd of fragrances if you will.

Live Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent

This is a great fragrance, if only it lasted. It's fresh, cool, and not annoyingly fresh like those other scents on the market right now. The cilantro, mint, and what I think is the rhubarb really gives a cooling sensation to the wearer. There's also a semi-woody dry-down that is wonderful. Sadly, it doesn't last more than 1-2 hours on me. Sigh, if only.

Cacharel Pour L'Homme by Cacharel

I thought this was going to be a grand fragrance after reading the reviews but I was left dissapointed. It is spicy, but there's no sweetness to balance it out. All I really get is an overpowering nutmeg note. I like nutmeg, but not as the star attraction. It also smothers the floral notes so I don't get a whiff of the carnation, geranium, etc. Lastly, it doesn't last on me at all. 2-3 hours tops.

Allure Homme Sport by Chanel

Being a fan of the original Allure, I didn't really think much of this until I tried it. Now it has piqued my interest. It's like its older brother but "fresher." It's also a salty kind of fresh, not as salty as Laguna, but in the same vein. This blends perfectly with the sweet Allure base it shares with the original. However, I still prefer the original because of the original's Jamaican pepper note. Although this one's more fresh and less spicy, it's still pretty good.

M7 by Yves Saint Laurent

AMAZING STUFF. I think of M7 as a GPH lite with some sugar on top. It's sweet and spicy. Although it's not as woody or spicy as GPH, another Ford masterpiece, it is fairly potent. It's also sweeter than its Gucci cousin. However, I find M7 more versatile and less formal than GPH. Easy on the trigger though buddy, you'll likely choke someone to death if you spray too much. Awesome fragrance. Not to mention it's my favorite YSL.

Envy for Men by Gucci

This stuff smells like sex. It's sweet and intoxicating in all the right places. It is also like a little brother to GPH. GPH is the successful, classy, business exec of the Gucci family and Envy is the rich party boy who just got out of buisness school. There is one catch for those interested in this fragrance though. You have to be cocky to wear this stuff. With that said, enjoy, but be warned, this stuff is some powerful mojo.

Greenergy by Givenchy

Having tried the ultra-feminine Insense and the extremely mediocre Givenchy Pour Homme, I had little hope for this Givenchy which sure looked like a knockoff of Insense. I was sure surprised. This stuff is great. It's a wonderful Green fragrance that exemplifies chypres. It even has a somewhat calming effect on me when I smell it. Great spring, summer scent for those who wouldn't mind a little more green everywhere.

Geir by Geir Ness

This stuff is good, but not good enough to deserve this much hype. It is fresh and sweet. It's light and airy. It's inoffensive and gets plently of compliments. It's boring. Very boring. It's great for what it is, an inoffensive scent everyone, even the often snobbish tastes of our own (myself included of course) can enjoy. But, once again, it is BLAND.

Zino Davidoff by Davidoff

Having enjoyed Cool Water one point in my fragrance lifetime, I decided to give this highly regarded fragrance a try. What a fragrance it is! It's strong, sweet, and musky in all the right ways. It's very old school and I love it because of that. Unlike Egoiste and Ungaro III, I think the rose blends perfectly in this concoction, making Zino even more masculine. I wouldn't call this Musc Ravageur lite, but it's pretty damn close.

Égoïste / L'Égoïste by Chanel

I wanted so much to like Egoiste, I really did. Seeing how I read the numerous rants about the merits of this perfume, I got a decant. It's definitely not bad. And it surely does ooze class. It just doesn't click with me though. I think it's the rose, I get a feeling this stuff comes off a little feminine. Althought that isn't neccessarily bad, I just don't detect the spices as much as I would like because of the dominating rose. Alas, there's still BdP.

A*Men / Angel Men by Thierry Mugler

I'd say, don't believe the hype. Although this is a pretty nice Gourmand. It's strong, sweet and has a lot of character. But that singing tar note comes off as a synthetic mess to me. I'll wear the stuff from time to time, but I won't reach for it if you know what I mean.

Bois du Portugal by Creed

Tops everything I have ever smelled in my lifetime. There really is nothing more to say about this work of art. It lasts long and it has very good sillage without being an untamed beast. This stuff soliloquies sophistication into the ears (well, noses really) of everyone around you. Formal in every sense of the word. I still wear it to my high school beacause I'm pimp like that.

The Dreamer by Versace

Ahh, what a beautiful fragrance. What a beautiful name. What a beautiful bottle. The box is ugly though... Anyway, the top notes on this baby are not for everyone. The florals in the beginning may seem harsh for some, but mellow for others (like me). The base is where the magic radiates from, and that sweet pipe tabacco smell just intoxicates you senses. It lasts and the sillage is amazing as well. Masculine and sophisticated in every sense of the words. It fits perfectly with an oversized leather couch. You may say, I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope some day you'll join us. Then the world will live as one.

L'Eau d'Hiver by Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle

Absolutely heavenly in every way. It's sweet and floral without any spices or woods. It is definitely on the feminine side but if you can get over that, like I did, then you will be rewarded with the something that actually smells like you are carrying around a bouquet of flowers drizzled in wildflower honey. Pure heaven...

Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler

If you want something clean and fresh yet you don't like the watery-ozony-sanitized smell of the popular scents like AdG, Polo, etc then this is it. It's a very relaxing scent. I actually wear this whenever I go to the dentist's so that I can relax a little bit more.

Nemo by Cacharel

This is simply a delicious scent. I love the fruity-sweet-woody composition. It reminds me Allure, though they really smell nothing alike. This is a must try for everyone. Awesome Y cromosome bottle as well. Too bad it's gone now... WHY CACHAREL WHY!?

Gucci pour Homme by Gucci

As a friend described this, it is pure CLASS. Although this may be a tad bit too woody for some people, I find it absolutely deliteful. The peppery wood is perfect for those formal events and even everyday wear if sprayed a little lightly. This is classic masculinity in a bottle that lasts forever and a day. Elegant and classic bottle as well. Another on of my absolute favorites.

Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge by Jacomo

Kicks things off with a sweet minty top note. Then it develops into a scent I like to describe as Christmas. It is incredibly sweet and sensual and unbelievably sexy. Great scent and probably the best scent per cent (hahaha...). But yes, amazing value, wonderful fragrance, and good longevity makes this one of my favorites.
15 February 2006

Allure Homme by Chanel

The top notes, like others have commented on, are less than desirable. However, once those notes dissapear, the sweetness of the Tonka and the Pepper entwine to create pure magical bliss. Amazing scent but it stays fairly close to the skin for me. Althought longevity isn't amazing, the scent is.

Givenchy pour Homme by Givenchy

This opens with a pretty distinct Grapefruit smell that lingers throughout. It ends (quite quickly) with a bit of a woody drydown with the grapefruit mingling in there creating an odd combination. Not absolutely horrible, but not as good as I expected.

Once again, lasts around half an hour if you're lucky.

Axe Orion by Axe / Lynx

Soft, quiet, clean, and fresh. It's suble and envigorating. Probably, no, it IS the only axe scent I like. Good for those days where cologne would be too bourgeois.
